I visited an acquaintance at Rustic Ranch Senior Living. The units are fairly new and nicely done. They have beautiful landscaping. It's a very quiet area away from town. It's very, very clean and it's a beautiful place. I have heard from people that the staff is very good. They have a gym and a swimming pool. It is like a ranch. They have animals up there and you can walk around and pet them.

My mom moved into My Father's Retirement Ranch a month ago. They've got three separate areas going from no restrictions to a locked down restriction. The grounds are big. There's a pool. There are green grass, trees, and birds all around. They've got individual casitas and duplexes, and they're all in the woodsy area. The inside of the facility is extremely clean. The staff is outstanding. They're there to help, no matter if it's 3:30 in the morning, which my mom fell and they were right there with her. They were able to find her immediately. My mom is super picky about the food but she loves the food there. She was in the casitas at first, but it didn't work. The room that she's in right now in memory care is just a bedroom that has a recliner chair, a desk to put all her belongings on, a twin bed, a dresser, and a private bathroom. They come in, make their bed every single day, and all their clothes get washed every week. They take them out and get a shower. When she fell, she broke her arm. So she's got physical therapy that comes to her, which is nice. They pick her up right there and do the physical therapy. There are lots of different activities. They need family permission to take them out to different areas. I know they had lunch at a couple of restaurants that they took them out to. When I was there, they were playing bingo. They have card games and exercises daily. They have a hair salon there. She got her haircut the other day and she's getting a hair color tomorrow.

My mom was more on her own at My Father's Retirement Ranch. It was more like a retirement home or independent living. Compared to others, the places where they live are larger. It's a very nice apartment with nice backyards. The eating facility was quite a ways away from where she was living, so that was kind of inconvenient. She hurt her legs, so she had to get a little motorized cart to get to the eating facility. The food was great. I had some fish. From what I observed, they're very nice people. There were some activities that she liked. They would pick her up and take her to town if she wanted to get groceries, and she really enjoyed that. There was some guy that was doing a Bible study, and she really liked that. They had some exercises that she liked doing with people and socializing with them. It was worth it.
Happy place

At My Father's Retirement Ranch, there are six or seven apartments to one strip of building. Everything is on the ground level, and there's an outside porch that looks out onto the meadow. My dad is in independent living, so he has his own apartment. They have a huge open green area, which is not the type that we find in the city. The staff is wonderful. My dad is out and about a lot, but they have Bible studies, card games, donuts and coffee on Saturday morning at the pool house, and a new area where they have a swimming pool and game room. Once a month, they take a group to a restaurant in town for lunch. The food is excellent.

My Father's Retirement Ranch was wonderful and the grounds were beautiful. The accommodations were very nice. The people were very nice, accommodating and welcoming. They had a nice variety of food. The rooms were nice and basic. They had apartments and bungalows for more independent living, and those were very nice too. I saw a calendar of the different things they have. The place seemed very clean.

My Father’s Ranch had a different setup. This place had a ranch, and I thought that was really neat. They have assisted living, and there are three large medical teams, and they also offered independent cabanas. Even in independent living they check on their residents. The staff appears to be a huge medical team, and that was awesome. There were a lot of residents there, around 60. They had a variety of rooms, and this was based on how well the residents were and the rooms available. The residents looked extremely well cared for, but some were just sitting there, and that didn’t look so good. They didn’t provide all the levels of care for assisted living.

I'm looking at several facilities for myself and so far, my favorite is My Father's Retirement Ranch. What impressed me the most about this place were their individual casitas and ranches, which means that while you're on the property, you're within the community boundaries with the security and facilities, etc. I liked that it's in the country, in a very small town, and it has animals on it. It has a lot of walking trails where you can be out and it'll be having a swimming pool soon. They take residents to excursions, and stuff like that. They will even take you to your doctor's appointments. The staff is very accommodating and the price is very good.

This is an independent and assisted living facility. It is a small ranch set in the center of town. There are one bedroom apartments and the main lodge. The apartments are indepent and the lodge is assisted. The lodge has private bedrooms and a separate dining room. The grounds are desert landscape with a green lawn. The buildings and grounds are well maintained. They have a library, small fitness room, laundry facilities, chapel, and main dining room. They offer three home cooked meals and snacks for assisted. The food is good. There is a doctor who comes in once a month and on call. All caregivers are certified. They work with home health and hospice services. Senior transport is available. They do housekeeping and laundry for assisted. They transport two times a week to shopping and community activities. They do exercises and other games and activities in house. There is a courtyard with sitting areas and walking trails. The staff here seems friendly and caring. This is a nice facility.
