Adult Day Care Communities in Methuen, MA

"Here on Earth is an adult day care facility operating from 9-3 lcoated in the personal home of the owner and her husband. It is a colonial with a beautiful, large yard. The inside of the home is lovely, too. It's spacious and homey. It looks like a regular home, which is the feel the owner is trying to convey. Threre were few residents there the day I visited. It seemed more of a social interaction than a medical one. I was struck by the beautiful artwork by the residents displayed on the wall in the dining-turned craft room. I saw an elderly participant sitting peacefully in the sunroom reading a book. Looks like a beautiful place for those not in need of a great deal of care or for those whose memory is impaired or who just needs company. "

"Upon arrival, it was a hot day and staff and residents alike were outside smoking at the entrance--not a pretty site. The facility did not look dirty at all but looked cramped and old. They offer both an assisted living component as well as adult day. Every adult day resident was in a small room with chairs formed in a circle chatting. I suppose some type of activity had just ended or was just beginning but no staff was in the room at the time I was there. The food being prepared for lunch looked and smelled wonderful and the staff was pleasant but the dining room had an institutional feeling. The facility was not locked--I did have an appointment and walked right in and said hello to the administrator. I know a man personally who sends a loved one there during the day and is thrilled with the facility. The assisted living rooms looked homey and pleasant with the residents' personal touches--decorations, wreaths, photos, etc. "

"All I can say is, if you truly love a family member that needs adult day care, this is NOT the place to go. My best friend has had her Mother going there for about a year and in that time, her Mom has had several "accidents" and at this time is being hospitalized due to a fall while in their care, that resulted in a broken hip, trauma and surgery. This will be a very long recovery which will require many doctor appts., rehab and physical therapy. Unfortunately, Mom has dimentia and doesn't know how this happened and the staff are being extremely vague with the family. No loved one should be a victim of others mistakes and lack of care. Please think twice before going here. You may actually save a loved ones life! The only reason I gave a one star rating is because it wouldn't allow my to submit without one. In reality, I give it -0! "

"My sister went to Pondview Lodge Adult Day Health. All the day placements had to close with the CDC restrictions. She was very happy there. She was there a couple of years and I was very happy with that. It was very nice. The staff was very good and they brought in volunteers for entertainment. It was very safe and very structured. She used to really look forward to going there. I would bring her there in the morning. She was there from 9:00 until 2:30 or 3:00 in the afternoon. It was gorgeous. It had two floors, and it had a wide, open area with a piano and different things that they could do. They offered different activities. The upstairs clients were the ones who could take on field trips. They evaluate the person, then they would try them on one floor or the other floor depending on what their needs were. They would develop a care program of what their needs were. That's how they categorize them, which was so good. They stopped when the virus started. It was perfect because you could pick your loved ones up, then you could do little groceries, then come home and have supper with the family. They had a nurse come in for some of the people there. The building itself is ideal for seniors because it's huge. It's two big floors and it's located right on a lake. They went fishing. It was so tranquil, serene, nice, and quiet. It was a nice place for them to be. I felt comfortable she was there. We loved it. I can't say enough. I'm a big advocate for those day centers. They need to do something to get them back because it's really helpful, especially for caretakers who need to work."

"My mother-in-law is at Youville Place. The staff is very professional. They're very engaged with the people who are there. They're very good staff. Both its layout and its upkeep are really, really nice. They have small apartments within one large building, but then they also have memory care, and that was very good. My mother-in-law started out with her own little apartment. She has been there for the last three years, and we're looking forward to her being able to move into their memory care unit. What's really nice is that they start out in independent living, and then they will add the level of assistance they need. They come and take care of her bedding and make sure that it's changed every week, but they're also there to look in to make sure everything's good, and then as her abilities decline, their support increases. We have actually been there, seen the level of service, enjoyed their menu, and all of that kind of stuff, and it's really nice. The staff is pretty good. The facility is also in remarkably good shape. They keep it really clean and attended to, and it is in good shape. I'm picky with food, but they did a good job of not making it institutional food. They actually offer lots of different things, so it's pretty good. They have physical therapy, occupational therapy, and a weekly movie night where everybody can get together. They've also had live entertainment come in, which gets people up and singing."

"My husband Dick and I were the first two applicants at our Gloucester unit of PACE- It has been a journey. My husband was a pussy cat.. I on the other hand, was not. I was a very difficult person for them to deal with.. But they kept up their efforts to get me to help myself with their patience, I finally realized I was my own worst enemy, and they genuinely cared about us. The entire staff is wonderful, patient, caring and understanding. The interaction with staff and each individual is sincere. The food is excellent-home made-no processed foods at all. The facility has everything conceivable to aid each of us in our quest for a meaningful life. If the Northshore Unit is any example of your other facilities, you are all remarkable--but I will always think of our unit here in Gloucester Ma. as the Flagship of your group=and one to set examples by. "I cannot say enough about the Community Family day care services in Medford, MA that my 97year old Mother attends. They are wonderful, caring, people, speaking for my Mother the attention that she receives from them are outstanding. I always receive notice if the staff have any questions regarding my Mother, whether it be an health issue, or some personal care. I am so grateful that I found this facility and have peace of mind while she is there. "

"My Dad has been in and out of Rehab facilities and Nursing Homes for the better part of 10 years due to multiple conditions he suffers from. We have been admitted to many facilities but none of them - NOT ONE - can come close to the high quality and genuine compassion that the Sancta Maria team offer. Great job Sancta Maria!! "The tour at Chelsea Soldiers' Home was excellent. The guy giving the tour took his time with us and showed us all of the amenities. It's just immaculately clean and it's a fresh, modern living environment. The rooms are private and they're good sized. And they all have their own bathroom. They do have a courtyard and activity area."

"I spent 6 months in River court community. It was an excellent place to stay after my car accident. Needed a safe place to stay. Food was excellent I even lost some weight while there. Meals were served by excellent wait staff. Service by other staff was also very good and they showed they cared. Facility is excellent and very nice. I use the exercise room it was not very well equipped but sufficed for my minimal needs. I also had physical therapy on site and later offsite while recovering. I moved into a senior apartment where my sister is living that was cheaper but not the service that was available at River Court. I would consider moving back to River Court if I needed the additional support."

"My friend is in Maristhill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She's doing well there. It's very good. They're taking great care of her and she's actually doing much better. I think they have about 100 patients. The building is four floors, and she has a shared room she shares with one other person. It has a bathroom, individual closets, individual bureaus, and a window. They provide good food and some activities. There is a nice area where she can, or we can take her for walks when we visit. We can take her out for lunch. It's very clean. They have a hard time keeping up with some of the bathrooms that everybody can access, but she has her own individual bathroom. The staff is great. There are nurses, aides, the doctor, and they're excellent in giving her her medication. She spends time with the other residents, and she's very popular there with the other residents. I don't usually see her eating, but she does seem to be happy with the meals. She said the food is good. It's one of the more expensive ones."

"Adult Daily care. Dad been attending one year. It’s been a blessing. Looking at it from the view point of what the senior likes and will thrive vs what I prefer. We needed assistance from isolation; meds; nutrition and a friendly hello every day. He has received all of them. They do a easy game daily and some musical guests. He enjoys the simple life now and that is ok. Pleasant staff with some turn over but that’s to be expected. I feel he’s safe. I never had negative issue w staff. He’s stable. Enjoy the moments. A new space in 2019 for adult daily care too."
