in my experience, this agency is overly ready to give medications that are over and above what the patient needs. they will not consider other treatments that are less harmful, and rationalize their care by saying they really are the only ones who know what is best for your loved ones, despite opposing views from the patient's primary care physician.

My mom got put on hospice care. Lighthouse Hospice comes to the assisted living and takes care of her hospice meds and whatever needs she has. Because her dementia was getting so bad and some of her needs were escalating a lot, we were kind of back and forth if she needed a memory care facility and closer watching, but we decided that taking care of her hospice needs would be better for her and staying at the same facility. Lighthouse Hospice comes and helps my mom shower twice a week. They have a social worker that's helping her and my dad with some counseling and stuff like that. They've been married 60 years, so my dad is having a hard time. They also have a nurse that comes in whenever she needs it, but at least once a week, they've been coming in. They have changed some of her medications, and that seems to be helping a lot with her agitation and anxiety. I think they're doing well. They have been a big help to me. The caregivers are super helpful, caring, and very good listeners. They are really good at taking care of dementia because it's hard to get a hold of dementia if you don't have a lot of experience with it and how complicated it can be.
