My mother had lived with me for over a year when she was sticken with a debilitating stroke. She make a remarkable recovery but still was not able to come back to my home. Since I work full time there was no way my teenage son could give her the care she needed so the hospital staff recommended John Knox Village. They called to introduce themselves after she was accepted and invited me to come over and tour the facility. It is simply an amazing little village. Her room would be decorated to her liking and there would be around the clock medical care if she needed. The village stresses mobility in the form of many exercises, activities inside and outside of the complex and urges residents to get involved with their imput if they want to. My mother is not like that though and she prefers to be alone which she is able to do. Her day is spent watching her soaps, reading her bible and getting her required therapy. I pay extra money to get her hair done by the hairdresser twice monthly as this is an extra cost. All in all the staff is very caring, they treat her with respect and the facility is extremely well maintained and in tip top shape. The culinary staff strives to have the freshest ingredients and is mindful of the dietary needs of the patients. There is also a chaplain on staff if he is needed. I feel very fortunate to have my mother there and highly recommend it.
