Comfort Keepers do light housekeeping, drive my mom to any place she needs to go (either with their car or with my mom's car), run an errand for her (like go pick up some groceries for her and bring them back), remind her to take her medications and hand her her pill organizer, and just make sure she's OK. They can also help her with grooming, bathing, and that kind of thing. For the most part, the billing is OK, but they have made mistakes before. They're supposed to charge one rate for 4 more hour shifts, while a higher rate is fewer than 4 hours. So, there's been times when they have charged for the higher rate when we've had 4-hour shifts. We complained about it, but they don't always credit us for the overcharge. I think they're finally getting it straightened out, but that was pretty challenging. The price itself though is pretty reasonable compared to other agencies. Sometimes the communication isn't that good. There was one time my sister called to schedule someone for a Thursday and then she called back later and had never gotten scheduled. It worked out OK because it turned out we didn't really need that Thursday and so there are issues like that that you just really don't know what's going on with the communication, but for the most part, it's been a positive experience with them. Right now, my mom has a wonderful caregiver, but it's just really the luck of the draw because we had one woman that was just useless. Fortunately, I was there at the time and so I called Comfort Keepers to not send her back and they were really good about not sending her back. Then we had another one that I wasn't just super impressed with, but we didn't have her again after that. The caregiver that my mom has now consistently is very, very good. We're really happy about that and that's the reason why we decided to keep my mom at home, because of the caregiver that she has. She likes this caregiver and they seem to get along so well. She's so helpful to my mom and so that's been just really huge.
