Mom has been in Heartland Country Village for about a year and a half now. They always seemed to have a nice dessert for lunch and they've been very accommodating with her. Sometimes she doesn't want to have whatever they are having for lunch and so the staff would serve something else for her rather than her not finishing the meal or anything of it. They have a very nice yard that faces the front of the building., but the facility itself is starting to show some wear and tear. Like they need to have their carpet cleaned and replaced. They have staff turnover. Some of the people that were there for mom, in the beginning, have now moved on. It's kind of heartbreaking. They are understaffed and they have a lot of contract people that come, which seems to be the norm for nursing homes, but the staff generally cares about their residents. They have a great activities director. She's always encouraging my mom to join in. I've gone and participated with mom in their exercise class in the morning and I played bingo with them. This summer, they had a beach party where they played beach music and had a variety of tropical fruit. They do fun things there and it's nice to see. I wish they could provide activities on the weekend though.
