Paperwork shouldn't take 5 days to complete in order to discharge a rehab patient that is more than ready to go home. When my brother's Dr said he no longer needed to be there he checked himself out, rather than staying the extra 5 days. Now we are under an Adult Protective Services Investigation. :(

My wife's therapy at Fir Lane Health and Rehab Center was excellent. It's a clean place. The leadership just seemed to be terrible. They seemed to be running on a shoestring and all of us were disappointed. Again, we're very delighted with the therapists. They got their job done, but they were constantly short on the staff. You couldn't make a telephone call out of there because there was something wrong and nobody had addressed the problem. That was just one of many problems so we wouldn't recommend that place to anybody. It needs strong leadership. There should be at least one doctor that is on staff and available daily. They don't have that now.

My mother is currently here for rehab after hospitalization. 1. VERY long waits for help. 2. Was left over 6 hours w/o bedding after soiling the bed due to not getting bathroom help. 3. CNA had 19 patients on caseload the day I was there and she was definitely not able to provide decent, much less good, care. 4. 6 days after requesting a grab bar to assist herself in getting up out of bed, there still isn't one. 5. 6 days after requesting foot cradle to keep bedding off wounded toes, there still isn't one. 6. Multiple requests for these items, including speaking with the charge nurse, the director, and having a care meeting 2 days after the initial request. 7. Staff was arguing in the hallway. 8. Mom is a fall risk. CNA was not happy at having mom request toileting help. Told her mom could do it herself with her walker. The walker was tucked away in a corner and mom would have to navigate out of bed (w/o the grab bar), around the table and wheelchair, then across the room and around the roommate's bed and wheelchair and then finally to the bathroom. Not reasonable for some at such high risk of a fall. 9. Mom has CHF. Facility "didn't know" and wasn't monitoring her for edema. At all. Both feet and legs swollen and one arm. CNA said she'd get a pillow for the arm on a Sunday. No pillow as of Tuesday. Family friend brought it in instead. 10. Mom hadn't been examined well enough to notice that she has two toes needing monitoring. They have gangrene. They're pretty obvious. 11. Smells of urine in the facility. 12. Staff is WAY overworked and the staffing ratios are seriously inadequate. I do not know what the official ones are, but 19 patients for one CNA and no RN on the floor is ridiculous. 13. Mom has said the food is pretty tasty. However, her diet does not seem to be in line with the diabetic and CHF diet (low carb and low salt) that she needs.

My sister was there. TERRIBLE care! She was found laying in feces in the a.m, and in spite of the nurses being told of it was not cleaned until after 6 pm upon a second family members visit that day. The same soiled sheets that were on the bed in the morning were still on the bed that evening. LOTS of other issues such as not eating, infections, uti's and bed sores. DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONE HERE!

Ive had many loved ones in this facility and have nothing but wonderful things to say. I must admit I was a bit nervous at first after reading all the negative online but I reminded myself that people are more likely to post when they are upset rather then when that a great time. So we went in open minded and the result was excellent, that staff was very caring and helped my grandmother back on the road of recovery. We would not take our family anywhere else. Great job team Fir Lane!

Here are my list of complaints of what I observed in the long term care ward. 1. Numerous times had to look for the nurses. There is supposed to be a 24 hour nurse. 2. A patient was left in bed who had soiled themselves. 3. About issue above, was resolved by changing the patient's clothing and putting them back in the soiled bed. 4. Patient had medicines changed and added without the permission of the person responsible for the patient's care, who also happens to have power of attorney. 5. Drug patients to sleep during hours between meals. 6. There is a chronic theft going on of patients clothing and items left by loved ones.
