I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Please do not send your loved one here. My dad didn't make it in their care. He got multiple infections including Covid and passed away. The staff was impossible to communicate with and the most incompetent group of people I've ever had to deal. They cannot return calls, they cannot get prescriptions right, they cannot change your mailing address, they cannot get their patients to the right appointments (or even make needed appointments to manage the patient's care), they couldn't even send us copies of documents we signed, nor could they give my father the medical care he needed when he was suffering. More than once they mistook another patient for my father as if they didn't even know the difference and lost his personal belongings. When we did get in touch with staff, they talked to me and my mother in constantly condescending and patronizing tones and were always rushing us off of the phone, sometimes even just hanging up on us. The medical updates they gave us were not specific and seemed like they were just trying to shut us up. This includes their "social" worker whose job it was to help us but she was one of the worst of all. My father was a stroke victim and had trouble holding the phone but the staff made no real effort to help us figure out a way to communicate with him. They would also send him out to doctors appointments or visits in virtually no clothing in freezing weather and anytime we chaperoned him to an appointment he was starving and severely dehydrated. They are a mess of a facility that needs serious improvement but it would probably be better for everyone if they were just shut down. They are not capable of taking care of human beings and do not deserve the title of health care providers.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

This place is awful! I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. The whole place stinks horribly, mostly like urine. The CNA's don't take care of the residents like they're supposed to. I was there for a week and saw not 1 person get their teeth brushed, they don't re-position residents at all, I saw more than 1 person with bedsores which were never treated, they clean people but don't dry them before putting a new diaper on. I watched a CNA remove a urine soaked diaper and just put a new one on without cleaning the resident at all. The mattress was soaked in urine and rather than clean it up, they just put a new sheet on top of it. They are very rough and quick while moving fragile seniors. I watched them help a resident to the restroom who could wipe them-self but they never had them wash their hands. The resident simply went from the bathroom, back into bed & was served lunch. Residents who cannot feed themselves were left alone in their wheelchairs in the dining room for hours after the meal was over. Diapers are only changed about once per 8 hour shift. I don't know how often they are supposed to receive baths/showers, but in 1 week I only saw 2 people receive one. If you care about your loved one, do NOT send them there!

I visited this facility

I am a caregiver for a patient recently put into your facility. He had recently gone through a quadruple bypass. I called your facility today at 1:54 p.m. to ask a simple question and was immediately put on hold. I had called from my cell phone and when I hit the 37 minute mark of being on hold I decided to call from a land line and told the person who answered I was on the other line and waiting for someone to pick up only to be told "let me put you on hold" again. NO! finally after waiting 46 minutes and 37 seconds someone finally picked up the phone. I can only imagine how this facility is treating patients when they push their call light. If I pushed my call light and had to wait 46 minutes for someone to help me use the bathroom the damage would have already been done and then I'm just sitting in it, right? SIMPLE SOLUTION..........tell the person waiting on the phone that either we are severely understaffed can I take a message and have them call you back? is there something I might be able to help you with?, I'm really sorry they are doing rounds, but seriously 46 minutes on hold for a phone call or to speak with a nurse is completely unreasonable no matter the reason for the call.

I would not recommend Talbot to anyone. The administration and staff are incompetent. Some of the nurses are very caring but unfortunately they are understaffed so are not able to provide even a minimal level of care. This facility is a prime example of a system which takes advantage of vulnerable people, especially seniors. If you are considering sending someone you care about to Talbot Rehab, please reconsider.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My husband spent 21 days in Talbot Rehab. Now, he is much better. The food was fine, it was clean, it did not have a bad odor -- some of the patients maybe that had problems -- but it was nice, and I think they did a good job. I did have trouble with the social worker not communicating with me much, but maybe that was just their way of handling it. They seem to work behind the scenes and didn't have to work with me I guess. They had a big meeting, given him tests and everything, andtold him what is what, and he has been following all the medications, so he is better. Nice rooms with a view from the floor of trees and plants, and that was nice. They had activities, and the rehab itself seemed very beneficial. They had some games and crossword puzzles, which my husband participated in. I ate lunches and dinners with him many days, and the food was good. Sometimes the help was a little strange, but I think they have a hard time finding people who want to work in places where everyone is so debilitated, but all in all it was good. It was just that the people who were serving the meals maybe were a little fresh off the boat, so they didn't understand what we were talking about. But then, when their supervisor would come along, she was great. She was always there, so you could just go to her if you are having a problem. She was part of the servers, but she was definitely in charge of everything. They had their rules, and they made people stick to them, which were good, otherwise we would kind of upset the routine. They had table heights for people with wheelchair, so that they are up closer, and you have to allow the people who need those to sit there. I thought it was very well-run. Security seemed fine, but they could be a little more. They had a patio that had a gate, a fence, and everything, but the people could have easily gotten away, so people who cannot be trusted not to wander would not do as well there. I was most impressed by the friendliness of the nurses who were actually providing care and dispensing the medications. They were very nice and easy to get along with. I liked it, and I liked the location. It was kitty-corner from the hospital, so if anybody needed 911, they would be able to take them there quickly. It used to get a bad grade, but I think they've solved the problems because the food was good, it was clean and not depressing, and it was nice.

I visited this facility

The staff I saw there did not care at all. The first day I went there to visit my friend, he was having problems that needed immediate attention and I told 2 staff members about it and they ignored me like I wasn't there. They were rude, uncaring and lazy. When my father legally had my friend removed legally due to them not taking good care of him three staff members began to give my father a bad time that has power over attorney to protect my friend. My friend was really unhappy and totally miserable when he spent three months at Talbot Center For Rehabilitation. They were charging my friend over $6000 a month and they had the nerve to charge him more money there for a haircut and beard trim and when they were done he looked like somebody cut his hair and beard with a lawnmower. My friend also stunk like a dirty dog when my father helped remove him from there and the State of Washington has documents/records on this business that this same problem has happened more than once at Talbot Center for Rehabilitation & Healthcare with other people. I would not let them take care of my animals let alone a human being.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

They were most helpful, caring, and patient while caring for my mother-in-law, even when she was in extreme pain. The nurses looked after her as if she were a member of their own family, and knew us by sight, as we became a nightly fixture. The doctors on staff were very responsive and we seldom heard a complaint come from any resident. The facility itself is clean, however it could do with a remodel. My mother-in-law's health deteriorated while there as her battle with cancer began to consume her. She was placed on a special diet to assist her in her battle and though she seldom felt like eating, the nurses devoted much of their time sitting with her, and encouraging her. When the pain rose above a certain level, she was taken care of quickly, which comforted us, as well. After she passed away, we received the most beautifully written condolence card signed by many of the staff. It touched our hearts and their kindness will never be forgotten.
