"Carillon was the one I liked the best, but it was the most expensive one. It was really nice, and I liked everything about it. If money was no object, that's where I would go. The rooms and the dining room were very nice. The rooms were big, and the apartments were in the right size. They had lots of activities. They had food available even when it wasn't meal time; they could have snacks whenever they wanted something. "

"My mom is at BeeHive Homes of Levelland. We chose it because it was a smaller facility and we felt like it would better suit my mother. My mom has a room with a bathroom adjoining it. It's kind of at the back of the facility, where it's not as noisy as up in the common area. We like all the staff members. They're super nice and good with my mother. They have games and bingo. They do puzzles. They get three home-cooked meals a day. My mom usually just sits there in the living room and watches movies on TV."

"I had been to Hickory Terrace for a tour. It was clean. They had an area in the front where people were being engaged in some activities, and I liked that. I like the rooms. I like the staff, too. The staff seemed friendly and sincere. They had an apartment that had the floor redone and painted, and that's where my mom is going to go. They just had some bad weather, so the front of it had a lot of leaves plastered to the building, but it just happened. In the apartment, they had a refrigerator and a sink."

"I moved into the Residence at Wolfforth. They don't maintain the common areas. They don't clean. They don't have somebody clean the common areas. It's a nice-sized room: the kitchen, the living room, the bedroom, and the bathroom. There's a shower, a washer, and a dryer right across from each other. So, it's all in one apartment. The washer and dryer come with the apartment and all the kitchen appliances. They provide the water. You pay for the electricity, and get your own internet and everything. It's a comfortable apartment. I'm happy with the apartment. It's just that I wish they would have some maintenance come in and mop the floors, and do things like that. All they have right now is a staffing agent, and they expect her to clean, but she's too busy being a staffing agent to do the cleaning. I really like her. She's a good person, but they're expecting too much out of her. A maintenance crew comes in every once in a while, when something goes wrong, as far as cleaning goes."

"I want to start by saying thank you to crown point and all of their staff. My dad passed away in September of 2014, he spent the last year of his life with chronic illness. Prior to crown point he spent the previous 2 years moving around from hospital's to nursing homes all right here in Lubbock Texas and crown point was a godsend. The staff made him feel at home even though he wasn't. I will tell you that having to deal with the day to days when your parents get to the point that they can no longer care for themselves. I strongly recommend Crown Point. Life does go on and knowing your Mom or Dad are in good hands is very important for peace of mind. Thank you again Crown Point for taking care of my dad. "

"I did a tour of the Isle at Raider Ranch. Their staff members were professional and kind. They treated us to lunch and gave us a parting gift, a gift bag. It was fun and the food is good. We toured a one-bedroom that had a southern-facing balcony overlooking a koi pond. It's a beautiful facility. They have a very festive dining area. We ate in the main building. There are two dining areas. There were a lot of people sitting together, socializing, and Christmas music. It was very pleasant. The dining area is set up restaurant style. There were choices on the menu. The grounds are well laid out. It's a large campus, but things are fairly easy to access. Folks were doing Christmas-type activities. We saw a very active schedule of activities. In terms of exercise, they had a full schedule. There was an exercise room and an activities room. There were indoor and outdoor pools, a hot tub, koi ponds, and a dog park."

"Very safe and busy atmosphere. A lot of things to do. Friendly people and staff. I have been here five years and have no regrets of leaving my home. Stress-free living! "

"My mom is a resident of Wedgewood South. I walked in and immediately felt so warm and fuzzy about the place. I was immediately greeted at the door by somebody who wanted to show me around and help me. I just dropped in unexpectedly. I didn't have an appointment, but she showed me everything that they have to offer. I was just blown away by how wonderful the staff members were. The facilities didn't smell. They were updated and were immaculately clean. It was just cozy. Her apartment is very nice. It's not huge, it's a studio apartment, but it's mid-sized. It has a little kitchenette with minimal kitchen capability, a sink, a microwave, and a refrigerator. They've got a little living area so she can watch TV in that little bedroom area that's kind of in the little alcove, so it's more private. She's got her own bathroom, which is beautiful. At home she had not been able to shower, just a sponge bath, and here she can take a shower and she's got people to help her do that. I think she likes it there. I have not tried the food, but my mother loves it. She's just getting so much more variety than she was giving herself at home, and she loves it. The facility is very nice. They have community dining, and it's kind of nice. Their community is divided into six sections, and each section has 12 apartments to it. The dining area is set up for the 12 residents, so they get to meet each other on a more intimate level. The staff members then just take care of those 12. They have a six to one ratio for nursing care, plus the medication nurse that works there. The setup is like nothing I saw, and that's what brought me to it because it was so individualized there. The cost is a little high."

"I have put my parents at SouthHaven Assisted Living, and it’s wonderful. My parents are very close to the staff; any need we have, they take care of it. Mother needed a lot of care at first, but she is doing much better now. They help with toileting, brief changes, and bathing. They do housekeeping once a week, and Mother gets her hair done."

"Tanglewood Village was really older, small, clean and quiet. They only had two tables in their dining area. It was more expensive than others that were nicer; I don't understand why. However, it was very clean and the people were very nice and very helpful. "

"I chose the BeeHive Homes of Lubbock for my father. He's been there four days but he passed away Monday. They met my needs and they're very caring. My mom is there too. Her room is efficient. And she eats what she can, and they catered to her as far as her likes and dislikes. My mom has only been there four days. They're very good."

"Lakeridge Nursing and Rehabilitation is an old facility, but it's still very well cared for. The size is something that I liked. It's not an overly large community and the people are genuine and caring. Their room is being shared for two people. It is open, has two closets for both, a shared bathroom, and then dividing curtains between them. They also have an outdoor courtyard area that some residents can go out to, weather permitting. They have a dining area that's pleasant looking and an area up in the front where the residents were down there being entertained with some music."

"I put down a deposit on Wilshire on 4th, and things are rolling along. My friend has a room and it's for memory care. It's a small facility. They have 16 rooms and they're all single rooms. It's one of the most affordable of the places that we talked to. They had a gathering room with a TV, and I saw several people there. It was 4:00, and there were several people in the dining room with activities at the time. The room was kind of small, but it's just one person in the room. It had a bathroom and a huge closet with a built-in dresser. The toilet and sink were in that area, but the shower was down the hall. Most falls happen in the shower, so there's always somebody in the shower with the residents. The lady who showed us around was very informative and asked lots of questions about the kind of care that my friend needed. They were open to everything that we needed. It was clean. Because it's a memory care place, the doors were locked. They have the licensing for locking the doors. They can't get out the door unless one of the staff members opens the door. They had the common area that was like a living room, and a common area that was like a dining room. There was a large backyard that I didn't really look at, but they mentioned that they take people out there and enjoy the sun."
