My sister is at BeeHive Homes of Lubbock. It doesn't look like a hospital. It looks like a home. Everybody there is very friendly. You know them by name, and they know you by name. Her room is very airy and sunny. She has a very bright window. She's an artist, and she can hang her artwork and make it hers. We've already made the room feel like her, and everybody has taken her in and taken her under their wing. She feels very nurtured. She was at another facility, and to leave a clinical environment and go to a home where you are lovingly cared for has just brightened her. It's given her a smile. There are attendants there around the clock. There are nurses available. Her doctor pays visits regularly. She is getting the care she needs, but she's getting it in a home environment in a loving, nurturing way. There's one lady I know who has been in that environment for six years. She's 101 years old, and she has her pink fuzzy blanket that they always make sure she has when she tootles around. You feel like everybody is taking care of their own grandmother. It's a very loving environment. They see my sister as a great addition. They love her artwork. They love her smile and her enthusiasm. They spend time with her. It was the exact right place for my sister, and I'm so happy that we found it. Even the attendants are so friendly. They're warm and loving. It's just a wonderful feeling to have her there. Food is great home cooking; it is not industrial cooking. The cornbread is homemade. When they found out she really likes something, they made sure to include it. It's just wonderful home cooking. The cook is really wonderful. The hospice sends out nurses too, and the hospice nurses are good. I've never seen anybody skip anything, be late, or not be there exactly when it's supposed to happen. It's like you walked into somebody's beautiful home. It's clean. It's decorated in a warm, beautiful way. I think there are 14 patients in this home, but you would think it's just three or four grandparents living in the home. It's kept so neat. They still have some of the patriotic Fourth of July decorations up, but it's decorated in a way that's not overboard. Everybody's room is uniquely their own. Each room has loving memories of who they are, with pictures and photos. It's like you're walking into each person's living room. They keep it immaculately clean, and that's so important.

We chose Beehive Homes of Lubbock because it doesn't have a lot of residents. I think they have maybe 10 to 12 residents there versus a nursing home, which has a lot more. My father-in-law's room is clean. It's perfect. It's like a one-bedroom apartment and it's very suitable. I haven't tried the food, but I met with the person who prepares the meals, and I like the part when you walk in the front door, you can smell the food they're preparing for the residents. It would be easy for my father-in-law to stay in bed all day, but I like that they make it a point to get him up and put him in a wheelchair. They have a TV room so some of them sit around and watch TV.

I chose the BeeHive Homes of Lubbock for my father. He's been there four days but he passed away Monday. They met my needs and they're very caring. My mom is there too. Her room is efficient. And she eats what she can, and they catered to her as far as her likes and dislikes. My mom has only been there four days. They're very good.
