My husband has been in Focused Care at Huntsville for five days now. He is in skilled nursing at the moment. I like the staff. Everybody has been very nice. It's clean. Their food is decent, but I noticed that he's eating a little bit more than he did at the last place where he was. The place is old, but it's clean. His room is fine for what we need. The staff works as a team. If somebody is doing something, somebody else will jump in and help. It feels like home, almost. In terms of maintenance and upkeep, I see them working on it all the time, not letting things get undone, so I'm pleased with that.

I'm friend of a residents. The rudeness from the Administrator and Director of Nursing (DON) toward staff and residents is unaccepted. Persistent odors suggest inadequate cleaning or ventilation. Unsafe living conditions like cold showers and drafty windows can pose health risks. Understaffing affects care, quality and resident safety.

No one seems to know what they are doing. Staff yelling at other staff and residents. Smelled all the time I visited family. My mother complained of showers being cold and she couldn’t get warm enough because air leaked in through the windows and her food was cold by the time it got to her. She was there for therapy and she never got any stronger then insurance stopped paying. She was just there for therapy and they kept changing her medicine even though her blood pressure would just get higher.

If you ask for something to be cleaned up- staff will say I’m not housekeeping and not even go get a housekeeper. Toilet stays broke and it always smells. Constantly saw roaches live and dead- no one would even clean up dead ones. Always out of supplies and laundry that was supposed to be clean smelled. Always running out of medication and waiting for it to come in according to staff and always changing my meds even though I knew what would work.

Singularly the most depressing facility we visited. Welcome to 1970's nursing homes. Building is old and outdated. Sorry use the money to renovate and create a nice place for the residents. It looks like a place to go to die.

Though the facility is well staffed with qualified individuals I was not impressed with the building and accomidations to the elderly. The grounds were not well maintained and the paint was chipping off of the walls. When entering the facility the smell of bowel was stomach turning. I think that with a well maintained janitorial service the facility would do much better.
