We have no affiliations with any one particular healthcare system, rather we offer our residents choice. We are fortunate to have many top-rated healthcare systems in our area including Trinity Healthcare - St. Mary Medical Center; Capital Health System; Penn Healthcare; and Jefferson Health.

Accepted Answer

Our Generations Memory Care residents and programs reside in a secured neighborhood, with a magnetically-secured entrance accessed from our assisted living area by authorized personnel. Guests are escorted into our Generations Neighborhood. Our courtyard is secured as well. Residents identified as an elopement risk receive a wander-guard device as well.

Accepted Answer

Heartis Yardley is a pet-friendly community. We have indoor courtyards and walking paths. In addition, Yardley and Lower Makefield Township has connecting walking paths including one our residents may join at the entrance of our community. The Executive Director volunteers with animal rescue organizations and welcomes visits with our furry residents. Treats will always be on-hand!

Much like we do for our Assisted Living residents, we utilize all forms of communication with our residents' families, from phone calls, in-person meetings, text messages, emails and mail via the USPS. In addition, we may FaceTime or do video chats with family members. We also capture videos or pictures of residents to share with their families. Supplementary to formal modes of communication for individual resident updates, we share community updates on our website and social media pages, in addition to a community newsletter.

What ongoing training does the staff receive in dementia care?

Accepted Answer

Direct care staff working in our Generations Memory Care Program receive 8 hours of initial training within the first 30 days of the date of hire and a minimum of 8 hours of annual training related to dementia care and services, in addition to the 16 hours of annual training specified in 55 Pa. Code § 2800.65 (relating to staff orientation and direct care staff person training and orientation).

Accepted Answer

Residents' health and cognitive functioning is first assessed by our RN. However, it is a team approach as our Generations and Assisted Living team members receive annual dementia training to recognize early warning signs of memory impairments. In collaboration with our residents, their physicians, specialists and family members, we discuss and update the resident's care plan in accordance with their needs. Our Generations residents are re-assessed on a quarterly basis, when there is a change in status or discharge from a medical facility and return to the community.

Our Generations Memory Care Program is designed to engage, stimulate, and empower our Generation residents. First, our Culinary Creations signature programs focuses on preparing recipes from the past. From the color of our dishware to special weighted utensils, if needed, to the presentation of our dishes, each one entices the sight, smell and palate of our residents. Healthy, chef-prepared entrees, made from scratch, are adapted to meet the dietary needs of our residents without compromising appearance or taste. Utilizing molds, modified diets are provided to our residents resembling the food they are eating. Of course, person-centered reminders and redirection, when necessary, are techniques our team utilizes to insure our residents maintain their health and wellness through nutrition.

Exhibition cooking, immersive dining, and resident-inspired menus bring community members together to enjoy each other’s company and a healthy, made-from-scratch meal in our restaurant-style dining areas.

All-day dining, from 7:00am through 7:00pm, is available in our Grove Dining Hall. Grab & Go snacks and beverages are available in our Blue Heron Bistro. Or, residents can enjoy a glass of wine in our Edgewater Bar prior to dinner.

We abide by all CDC & local guidelines to manage the risk of COVID-19 exposure. Our entrance is managed by our Concierge team. All visitors must check-in at the front desk and abide by COVID-19 protocols. Residents receive an emergency pendant & all apartments are equipped with an emergency call system. First Aid kits, sprinklers, fire alarms, & fire extinguishers are located throughout the community. All team members are trained on fire & emergency safety protocols. We follow our community-wide emergency operations plan. As a licensed assisted living & memory care community, nurses, nursing assistants and medication technicians are available 24/7. All new residents are tested for the Coronavirus prior to & on the day of move-in. AEDs are available in the community. Key personnel are certified in Adult AED, CPR & Standard First Aid. All team members wear masks, maintain safe social distancing when not providing direct care services, & clean between every service & appointment.

Direct care staff members, by regulation, receive at least 16 hours of annual training related to their specific job duties. In addition, administrative staff, direct care staff persons, ancillary staff persons, substitute personnel and volunteers receive at least 4 hours of dementia-specific training within 30 days of hire and at least 2 hours of dementia-specific training annually thereafter.
