"My mom was a resident at sunrise. She had her ups and downs there. The room was ok. Part of the bathroom mirror was missing and wasn’t replaced. She complained about the food, but found things she liked on the menu. Alex the activity director sometimes brought lunch in for the residents. Alex put a lot of life into the facility. My mom had a great experience with two care takers, Justin and Latoya. They were both exceptional. All in all sunrise was a nice place to live."

"Ivy Gables was very nice. The person that I had contact with was lovely and very caring. She wanted to make sure it was the right match for my mom. She went out of her way completely. It's just like home. But it was little overpriced for us right now. I was there during lunch, and the food smelled good. I saw people in activities. They seemed very happy. It's a very small place, but it was very personal. They have a lovely garden area. The place was lovely. They also handed me a box of homemade cookies. It was very quaint, and it was very nice."

"The Quadrangle is very fancy and nice. There are lots of university people there and offices around. The one problem with it is that they don't allow for Medicare if a person needs advanced care. The staff who gave me the tour was terrific, very good, and what she showed us was comprehensive and impressive. We had a good meal there. The catering was well done and high quality. The rooms were also fine. They had a library which was quite elaborate and well-stocked, there are also events with lots of invited speakers, and I'm impressed with that."

"Because I wanted to just go away for a week or so, I inquired about Forwood Manor. Everything there seemed very pleasant. However, once I've heard the details of respite care and if I qualify, I didn't get into any real details about the whole facility. The place was very clean and everything seemed nice. The one staff that I met was very friendly. I didn't see any activities though. "

"I went to Ivy Creek Gracious Retirement. The lady showed me around. We had a nice lunch. They have everything there you could want. They have a variety of apartments, different styles of apartments, one-bedroom, or just a studio apartment. So there is variety there, lots of activities. And it's close to everything. I also like that you don't have to put a lot of money down. The person who gave the tour was wonderful. She was nice. Even the residents were nice. They all said hello to me."

"Symphony Square was lovely. The rooms were rather small but very pretty and comfortable. They didn't have enough activities for me though. I did see some amenities there, but I'm not ready for this place. I was with my daughters, and we all thought that it was lovely. Even the food looked good. If I needed a place like that, I would go there; I would not hesitate, but I'm not ready for it."

"My mother moved to Arden Courts in 2011. She has been a resident of Arden Courts for over two years now. Her dementia prevents her remembering where she is or why she is here. The caregivers and all staff interact with my mother in a positive, friendly manner. They smile and treat mom with respect. Before each of the many daily activities, a staff member tells mom about the activity and asks her if she would like to join in the activity. Mom participates in many activities, such as chair exercises, painting and other art projects, sing-along, bingo, word games, story telling, balloon volleyball, manicures, resident birthday parties, pet visits, and worship services. Mom especially likes the out trips when residents travel by bus to a restaurant, park, musical performance, museum, or a scenic ride. Mom receives much more mental stimulation than she received in her house three years ago when she had only one in-home care provider at a time. Now, the increased interaction appears to have slowed mom's mental decline and it definitely elevates her mood. I recommend Arden Courts for your loved one with memory loss issues. "

"I toured Fountain View at Logan Square. The community was beautiful. My brother loved it. We loved the atmosphere, the restaurants, the library, the entrance, and how well they treated us when we came there. Even the guy that gave us the tour guide was wonderful. The nurse who came and did his assessment was very pleasant and very kind. However, we were not able to afford it. I thought that we would be able to get the room because I was going to financially help him. However, the money had to be in his account, so he was denied because he didn't have enough income coming in. The staff was wonderful with the tour, but when he set us up for the medical doctor, he gave the impression that my brother could get the studio because it was cheaper, and then by the time we came back, he told me the studio was $4,600. The upkeep was very nice, except they were still under construction, so it was a little messy. However, the rooms I saw that were already ready were very nice."

"Rockland Place is rated number one in Delaware. I like everything about it. The staff and food are great. It's a beautiful facility. My mom is very happy. They do activities and have entertainment all day long and go on field trips. My mom goes to activities at 10:00 a.m. and does not get back to her room until 3:00 p.m. "

"It is a 1-floor facility. My mother has a nice room, her own bathroom, and her own living space. They have activities. I have dined there, and it's fine. They've got physical therapy and a nice television room. It has easy access."

"My mother-in-law is in Merion Gardens, and we are very happy. Whenever we are there, the staff is very helpful and friendly. The rooms are very nice. The one that she is in right now is very nice and very spacious. I know they have things available to do. She likes that the library is right across the hall from her room. She likes to read, so she likes the access that she has to the books there. I have not eaten there, but my mother-in-law has not complained about the food. The dining room is quite clean and has a nice appearance. "
