I was very pleased with Lutheran Home, and the people working there were very nice. The room that we looked up was upgraded,, but I know they’re upgrading other apartments. The dining facility was clean and very well decorated. They had card games, exercise classes, church services, and birthday parties. There is a call button in every room of the apartment so they are able to get help if they need it. It’s like a hotel, but they have a main meeting room where they have activities. There are places for them to be together.

The rooms are roomy for two people but the bed are bad. Thin rubber mattress, not comfortable to elderly people. The facility was under staffed especially during the night shift. Only one nurse and 1 aide on each of the two floors, each floor with 44 people. My relative was sitting in a wheelchair in front of desk at 5:30 AM trying to find someone to take her to bathroom but no one was around. She fell out and broke her neck and passed away as a result of the accident. She also was determined at the hospital to have a UTI and pnemonia the nursing didn't even know she had. The nursing home DR. would only come to the nursing home monthly to sign papers, never examining the patients but charged medicare for the examination. Residents enjoyed holiday gatherings and children from the community visiting. This nursing home is only hiring the minimum staff required by medicare but it is not enough when the home is full which is most of the time. Regulations at nursing homes for profit have to change to require enough staff to care for patients to prevent injury or death to elderly patients.
