I had a really good tour of Cascade Valley Assisted Living and Memory Care. I was met in the entryway by Heather. We went upstairs to the rooms available, and we looked at a 1-bedroom, a studio, and a corner 1-bedroom. She also showed me a model room, a room that was already set up with furniture, so that I could get a better grasp of what it would look like if my mother's things were moved in. She showed me every part of the room and answered all my questions. She was very helpful and anticipated a lot of questions as well. Any concerns I had, she addressed them. She was very polite and made me feel like I was welcome. I was impressed with the tour. I was impressed with the dining room, which was downstairs. She also explained the levels of care and how that's determined by the principal nursing director at the assisted living facility. She was very helpful in pointing out the levels of care as well as the differences in the room sizes and costs. I felt like it would be a nice place for my mother. There were some lounging areas where residents could watch television, play games, and sit and talk. I walked by the nursing station and got a pretty good look at the nursing station and its proximity to the rooms. Some of the rooms are some distance away from the nursing station and the elevator. But that's easily accommodated by the staff who can help residents get from one place to the other.

I went to Cascade Valley. My mom is kind of on the bubble of assisted living and memory care, especially a month ago. She's improved since then. Cascade was sort of my second choice because it had both services. It also offered a full vegetarian menu. It was a very nice facility. I went into both facilities. It seemed nice. The only reason why I didn't choose it is that it was a little bit farther away. I could only see my mother if she came out to the lobby, and we talked there or outside. The staff was very helpful and has followed up several times with me, emailed me, and called me. I would have put my mother there, but it just wasn't quite the right fit at the time. It is on my list for maybe the next step. I looked at studio apartments. In an assisted living and memory care, there's a lot more things offered. I can put my mother there and walk away. I can't do that at the other place because I have to be very involved in her care. It's full service. It's a beautiful facility and very clean. It seemed very active, especially in the memory care section. They were involving the residents in some sort of activity when I was there. I don't exactly know what they were doing, but it seemed very active. I can't really rate the food, but one of the reasons why it is on my list is because of the food though. Without knowing what happens after a person moved in, I really can't rate the food.
