Independence House

Independence House was not near as homey feeling as the other place. It was clean. I didn't feel there were as many staff around, but it had all the different things that we would want in a facility. I don't remember seeing any activities that were going on at that moment. They explained some of them to us and showed us the gym, the rehabilitation center, and the pool, and they were quite nice. The staff was very nice.

Right now, mother is in Independence House but she's in the process of getting what Medicaid asked. She seems to be fairly happy there. She knew the people and the staff and so it was a more family-oriented environment for her since she doesn't have immediate family in Ohio anymore so she was around people she knew, staff and actual residents. They do a good job. Anytime they have a medication change or anything with her, they'd give me a call and give me an update on her condition and they will talk to me whenever there's an issue. Sometimes, it's just a very small thing but still they let me know and I like that. The rooms are fine. Initially, she was the only person in the room and I think they just gave her a roommate here about a month ago. It was such a small town, she even knows the lady that they moved in to her room and she seemed to be fine with that. She didn't, initially, like the food but now, she hadn't complained about the food.
