"My 94 y.o. mother has been there for around 10 years, and she suffers with dementia. She is quite obstinate, but they seem to handle her well. I live out of state and visit about 2x per year, but when I do, she seems content. My impression of the place is clean, secure, and well staffed with caring folk. They are easy to reach, and keep me informed. "

"My mom was at Whitehall for just a few months. Terrible care with her dementia state of mind. She was easy to ignore. Her clothes would not be changed for days. Rooms were safe but she fell and fractured 3 vertebrae and had to have staples in her head. The blood wasn’t cleaned up for over a week from the floor. Only a couple of the staff were wonderful but with so many inmates, what could one do. "

"My 94 year old Mother has been a resident of Houston County Nursing Home for eleven years. She is cared for in a very professional manner and her physical needs are always met. But I consider it to be equally important that the staff makes a great effort to see that somebody is available to go to Walmarts for her when she wants the candy she loves or to obtain the shampoo she especially likes. I try to do these things for her too but there is no other family to be involved with her and I especially appreciate the many thoughtful things done for her. When he returned from the hospital after being diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer the owner of the nursing home, Dennis Brown, came to her room, gave her a big hug and told her how sorry he was that this was her diagnosis. Just one of the many sweet, caring, thoughtful things the folks at Houston County Nursing Home do for my dear mom. "

"This little facility is a hidden treasure!!! The staff seem to really care about the ppl who live there. The therapy staff were great too. My dad enjoyed getting to get stronger in therapy and then continued to visit the rehab dept to encourage others. Truly a family environment. My dad remains there and welcomes new residents to help them enjoy their stay. "
