"My husband stayed at Conover Nursing and Rehab Center. During the time that he was there, he was doing rehabilitation because he had a fall. The rehabilitation I thought was excellent. He was only there for two and a half weeks, but the whole time they made sure that he was doing everything that he needed to be done for him. The staff was caring, like they wanted the best for him."

"I visited a friend of ours at Trinity Village in Hickory. She's in their assisted living. The place was very nice. It's clean. It's decorated very pretty, and there's no bad smell. All the time, I see on Facebook that they do activities with their people. It's just overall a good place, and the staff was great. They do all kinds of arts and crafts and have all kinds of functions going on for the residents."

"The rooms are adequate. I was in a semi-private room and my roommate was a sweetheart. The bed had several issues with the remote and horizontal lift. Staff was responsive to my needs. I enjoyed bingo & pizza party as activities. Amenities include bird enclosure with the tiniest birds. The whole facility was clean and inviting."

"The reason we looked at Trinity Ridge was because it was 2 miles from where we lived and it was a year old. That’s what we liked about it. The staff was okay, but too busy to help us. The rooms were okay, and it was real nice. The dining room was real pretty. My mother has a couple of friends that live there, and they liked it, and found it was a good place. They have a TV and they have a bus for those who can go out, they do exercises, and they play games. "

"Abernethy Laurels is clean, quiet, and updated. The lady I talked to was very challenging. It was only my resilience that got me an appointment there because I wouldn't give up. They don't call back. They're not nice on the phone, and even at the beginning of the walkthrough was awkward until I didn't know what I said or what I shared, but the interview completely changed to "give me this information". Then this lady called the place where my father-in-law is located now and got everything that she needed. I think that they're just very choosy and careful as to who they let come in. I think a private place has the right to do that and I'm not offended at all. I still appreciate that and that's why I want my father-in-law to be there. The lady was still amazing, and helpful, and went above and beyond to get the information. They have a lot of things. They have a rehab if you need it. There's a kitchen where families can come and cook with the residents. The dining area was clean and beautiful. She discussed what they offer, what they do, and how they are willing to meet my father-in-law and his physical condition, which means they'll probably have to have meals in his room, and that was not upsetting to her at all."

"My mother went to Carolina Rehab Center of Burke for physical therapy. She had a broken arm which caused problems with balance. The therapist attached a device to the walker that helped her to navigate easier. They also did cognitive therapy to help with sequencing daily chores like dressing, personal hygiene, and remembering. Each day, mother did more by herself. Rooms are crowded but the floors and bathroom are cleaned daily. Her bed was changed frequently. Personal laundry was done timely. Meals were satisfactory and provided a a good variety. The staff gets an A-plus. Everyone was helpful and genuinely cared for patients. They even encouraged mother, at age 98, to attend karaoke."

"I went to Hickory Falls Health & Rehabilitation for rehab. It was good. I had a room to myself, although I think it was meant to be a double. It was a big room with a nice-sized bathroom. The staff that I met were fine. However, they did not warn me that a young man might be sent in to help me up off the toilet. It was a real shock, but I got used to it. The young men who worked there were very professional. I was there for two or three weeks. The food was fine. I didn't have any trouble with it. I never saw any problems. I would recommend it."

"My 77 year old brother came to CP from a hospital. Initially he was in a very small semi-private room, but was moved the next day to a much larger, albeit semi-private, room which was very nice. The staff was extra attentive, including the nurses, CNAs, PT and OT...I couldn't have been more pleased. My brother was not able to do much due to his advanced disease but I was able to see how many activities they had planned for other residents every day. Cosmetically, the College Pines building is beautiful. Upon entering they always had coffee available with their Kureig machine, which I took advantage of on some cold winter days. I could tell their rehab room with equipment was well appointed and I found the PT staff to be very well trained and worked well with both my brother and us. If you are in need of either long term care of short term rehab care, you will not be disappointed. "

"All in all, I would have to say that Boger City Rest home is pretty awesome. We had our doubts at first as we were use to being around my grandmother all of the time, but with the fact that everyone worked and no one was able to move in with her full time to help take care of her, we visited many facilities and Boger City Rest Home gave us the peace of mind of placing her in a living assisted establishment. My mom and dad were very vigilant about visiting often and still are to ensure that proper guidelines were being followed and up until now everything is fine. When I visited, my grandmother seemed very happy, not as happy as she would be as she would be at home, however very happy. I love the fact that she now feels a sense of community and has made very many friends at the Boger City Rest home. It gives my family and I peace of mind knowing that she still has certain freedoms, but has those freedoms with a 24 hour staff that is always there to take care of any situation that may arise. The only negative thing that I have to say, is that this is not a smoke free facility, while no smoking takes place inside, they still allow residents and employees to smoke outside. Overall this has been a very positive experience for my family and I and we would absolutely refer someone to use Boger City Rest home. They have a very friendly and informative staff that always has a smile on their face. I am grateful for them and the level of service they provide for my grandmother. "

"Valley Nursing Center is one of the nicest facilities I have visited. The environment is very pleasant and well cared for. The landscaping is beautiful as well as the interior. There has been a lot of time and effort put into making it as home-like and comfortable as possible. There are many different activities to enrich the lives of the residents. It is very important to the staff to meet the social needs of the residents there. The residents are mostly cheerful, well assured with personal care, and optimistic. There is a beauty shop which I felt was a great service to provide. There is a ventilator unit with dedicated staff. The only negative I found was that when the vent unit was created, they removed the Alzheimer's unit. The residents with late stages of this disease are now mixed into the general hall. I believe that the special unit was helpful to preventing excessive stress and confusion to these residents. "

"My mother was in rehab at this facility for five weeks this winter. I accepted the room hesitantly at first because it was a 45 minute drive from my home. I came to realize it was worth the drive. My first impression proved to be misleading. The facility was clean, but drab and outdated. However, the staff brought sunshine into every nook and cranny. Every person, from the janitors to the administrators, treated my precious momma like she was their own. The therapists and CNAs were especially kind and attentive. Covid prohibited much of the interaction of the residents, but the staff more than made up for it. I was always made to feel welcomed. Many of the staff even called me by name. My questions and concerns were always addressed promptly. Her cleanliness and medications were attended to on time. The furnishings in the rooms were comfortable and adequate for two visitors. Their family rooms were nice spaces for larger visits before Covid. The food was acceptable. I enjoyed taking Momma that I cooked anyway. I highly recommend this rehab facility to anyone in need of their services. I would give them TEN stars if possible. God bless these angels. They truly are the hands and feet of our Savior."

"Shaire Center is very clean. They have a very friendly staff and all of the residents are dressed, alert, and well cared for. They have plenty of nice spaces for visits as well as incredibly nice rooms. Each different unit has its own activities list appropriate to them. Plus, they have in-house physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. For memory care, they have games, sing-alongs, and worship services. They were the best of any place we visited."

"We moved our dad to Lenoir Healthcare. It seems to be a very clean place. The staff is very friendly, helpful and good to this point. They did have a nice activity program. However, my dad isn't really participating very much because of his poor hearing. So far, we have been very pleased and he has been there since the middle of May. I haven't eaten there, but my dad said the food is good. He is doing much better there now. I recommend this facility to others. "

"We used Grace Heights for my dad because he requires physical therapy, occupational therapy, regular medication doses, and injections. My dad was there for 60 days. They had a full-time MD, physician on-call who was not necessarily on the site, but he was assigned for the entire facility 24 hours a day. They also had skilled nurses RNs 24 hours a day. The grounds were very nice. It was in the middle of a medical complex. It was on top of a hill and overlooked forests, trees, and mountains. It had a wonderful view. You could look out of the side of the facility and watch the sunset. Dad had a beautiful view looking out on the mountains, and he could see the sunrise and sunset from his window, which was really nice. The building was older, but it was well taken care of. It was clean. It was heavily staffed and very efficient. Everything was really great. My dad loved being there. They took really good care of him. In fact, he didn't want to come home. It was fantastic. When we needed to discuss things, the nurse was there. Anytime we needed consultation on higher-up, the physicians got in touch with us immediately and either forwarded information or he would come and visit personally in the room. We felt totally confident about everything, about medications and things like that. We asked about insulin, and I said: "You know he has never been on insulin before," and they listened to me, took my advice, and said "Okay. We'll monitor. We'll talk to the doctor. We'll get his consultation, get his idea, and get back to you. We'll monitor. We'll try and ease him off the insulin and adjust his blood sugar by diet. We'll boost his exercise a little bit." They channeled my request to all the departments required in order to make that shift, and I was very impressed with that. They actually listened to me. I would recommend them to friends and family. "My 21 year old son who is autistic and a diabetic had to have an MRI this morning at iredell memorial Hospital and he had to be sedated by anesthesia because he couldn't stay completely still for long enough to do it. We had a great experience from the check in to registration to outpatient to recovery everyone was wonderful to us. They gave me updates while he was in the MRI room and the nurse in recovery offered me some soda and peanut butter crackers that I was very grateful for since I hadn't had any breakfast that morning! Everyone was so patient and caring with him being autistic. They even gave him a little stuffed lion toy. They were great to us and I would definitely recommend them!"

"I visited Peak Resources Cherryville and it was a very nice place. If I had my choice, that's where my husband would be. It was very nicely decorated, and very clean, and has a good overall feeling about it. They have a memory care unit but my timing was not good because just as I was touring, there was a family that they were also working with to see if they were going to take the place or not, so there was no opening. The person who accommodated me was a very nice lady. They have shared and private rooms, and common spaces."
