My mom has been a resident of BG for a few years now. I have not had any problems with this facility. Before my mom moved in, we visited a few places and believe me this was / is a lot better than others. One we visited,we smelled so much air freshener when we walked in we were sure it was to mask urine odors along with others. A close relative of mine passed away in a Syracuse nursing home, last year, when we visited that facility, residents were always waiting for someone to help them with one thing or another, and it was not very clean. I have moved out of state but I am still able to be in contact with anyone at Bethany Gardens concerning my mother at any time. I am thankful that my mom is at Bethany Gardens I truly feel she is being well taken care of.

The rooms are somewhat dated. The facility is short staffed. The food, or lack of, awful. Rarely get what is ordered from menu. The food is usually overcooked, mostly not edible. The food is not nutritious, given the fact they are dealing with the elderly. They seem to always be out of bread for toast, which happens several times a month. How can a facility such as this be out out bread? Some times food goes back to kitchen and residents go without food from a.m.to p.m. The kitchen needs to be looked at closely for the sake of the residents that are unable to speak for themselves, or get attention if there is a complaint. The Rome Bethany was not this bad several years ago. Seems there is lack of control, or owners just don't care about the welfare of the residents. In many cases elderly, and this is considered abuse. Maybe the state health department should become aware and do an inspection .

My mother is in Bethany Gardens for rehab, and the staff there seems fine. It's a very big place, and it's not modern at all. My mother is miserable about the food; she says it's miserable. They had a barbecue for them one day and the food was burnt and overcooked. They do try to do other things for the residents. They also seem to be adequately staffed, and some of the ones she's had were caring and wonderful with her.
