Assisted Living Communities in Trenton, NJ

"We did Brookdale of Florence, but they did not have memory care. They didn't know if my mother would qualify to be in assisted living. She had not had an assessment at that time. We didn't taste the food, but it looked like a nice setup. We got to meet the chef. The rooms were spacious."

"We chose Oxford Crossing because of where it is located. It's a beautiful place. We're in a one-bedroom with a nice amount of space because we have some large pieces of furniture. The staff was great, and they showed us around. The food's very good. The upkeep is spotless. We haven't participated yet in many things, but they do offer different things to do. Right now we're sitting outside, there's a big overhang in the front. So it's nice. When you walk in the lobby, it's classy looking. You feel like you're walking into a fine hotel. That's what it looks like."

"My mother is living in the Legacy Gardens of Bristol. She seemed to like it. They have doctors on staff, so she doesn't have to leave the facility to go see a doctor. They need to upgrade their activities for the seniors. Everybody is very friendly. Besides watching TV in the common area, they do have social activities for the seniors. They have a salon and a lady that comes around who does their nails and stuff like that. My mother gets a veteran's benefit, so that will help her out quite a bit."

"My son and I went on a tour of Maplewood at Princeton over in Plainsboro. They have a 1-bedroom apartment available in assisted living, and I'm kind of pursuing that. It seemed like there was enough staff, and they looked like they were helpful. They were helping the residents that we saw there. One thing I liked about the dining area was that they had something that other assisted living facilities didn't have. In addition to the tables, they had an open kitchen and a counter that faced it. You can come in here any time and get anything that you want to eat. You don't necessarily have to sit with people, because sometimes you don't feel like doing that or having a conversation. You can just go and sit at the counter and get everything you want to eat at any time. I thought that was a good idea and something that I hadn't seen before. The rooms were a little bit bigger than the other places. It's a regular 1-bedroom apartment, not a studio, so it's still relatively small. I know they're not going to be big or anything, but it's still bigger than the rooms of other places that I'd seen. The facility looked clean and organized. Everything was in place, and nothing looked sloppy or out of place. Everything looked very neat and well-kept."

"I went to Juniper Village at Bucks County and I was greeted properly. They've got very nice people. The place was clean. They showed us several apartments, several of the crafts that they were doing, the restaurant, and the menu. Everything was great. They have studios, one bedrooms, and two bedrooms. The staff during the tour was very nice. They have a church on the premises. The buy-in was cheap. We tried to set up several luncheons, but we weren't able to do that."

"I liked Spring Hills Princeton. The woman I met there was nice. She was wonderful. It seemed like a nice place. I liked the price. It's cheaper than others. The rooms were nice, too. I think they were a good size. They generally have games and outings just like the others. I thought the atmosphere was very pleasant."

"Holly House was a nice place. It was a great program, and it would have been a perfect fit for my relative. They were professional, friendly, and courteous, and they went above and beyond. I didn't try the food, but my relative did, and she enjoyed the meals. The rooms were well lit, they were very clean, and they were very comfortable."

"I had a pretty good tour at Holland Village. It had a nice atmosphere; it was not sterile. The people were very friendly. It was very clean and nice. I liked it. The staff that I met was good. They had various clubs. They had a gym and a swimming pool."

"I went to see the assisted living facility of Granville Place in Burlington. It was a nice place, and I liked it. They were very good, from what I saw. The lady who gave me the tour, the nurses who were there, and how they treated the individuals who live there was good. The place is also clean. It was close to my house, only four minutes from where I live, so I liked it."

"My mom moved to Brookdale Northampton, and their staff has been there a long time. I think the woman at the desk has been there for 19 years. I think the maintenance guy has been there for like 20 years. It seems like people stay there because the workers seem to like it. It's clean. They're very friendly. It's very nice as far as their dining room. The rooms and the building are nice. You don't feel like you're walking into a nursing home. You feel like you're walking into a home, and everyone's very nice and the residents seem very nice as well. The staff is very nice, but sometimes they're not around and they have a lot to handle. My mom loves the food. She's only been there two weeks, so we haven't experienced everything yet, but they have a lot of things for them to do. I've started to go to a lot of different places and some are more expensive and maybe a little nicer, but too big. And then some are just the same price and not as nice, so I think we did well with this one."

"The Province of Southampton was a very nice facility. It was immaculate. The only thing I did not like about it was that they have what they call a Jack and Jill apartment. In other words, there's a separate bedroom on each side, but they share a common bathroom. It was well-staffed. The Province of Southampton has memory care and assisted living, but I would rather have just memory care because my thoughts are, say, the memory care might be short of staff. They take people from assisted living and put them in memory care, and they're not trained. So that's another reason I'd rather have memory care. The person who took me around was very nice and well-informed. She was very good. They serve three meals a day. They have courtyards and walking lanes where they can walk outside."

"My husband has moved into Oakwood Residence. It's convenient. He is in assisted living. It's excellent care. They're very efficient. They take care of what needs to be taken care of. They're very caring. They have physical therapy and occupational therapy. They have a salon for men and women, they have an activity room for the residents, and they have lounges set up with big-screen TVs. It's clean, well taken care of and they have a good staff that maintains the property."

"Brookdale Monroe just seemed a little big. Otherwise, it was clean. The people were friendly to everyone. The rooms were pretty much the same as the other place. The staff during the tour was very good, friendly, answered my questions, showed us around, and was very personable. They had a beauty parlor. The amenities were good."

"I visited both assisted living and memory care at Mira Vie at Forsgate. Everything was wonderful. I'd give them a five all the way around. The staff was very helpful, very accommodating, and very sincere. It was very clean. It was smaller for my sister-in-law to maneuver. Even the age of the residents I liked, because they weren't all in their 80s and 90s. They had some younger residents there. They gave us a dessert to bring home, but I'm a diabetic, so I couldn't eat it. I gave them away, and they said they were delicious. I did speak to one resident, and she told me the food was great."
