As the second largest city in Nevada, Henderson is a popular destination for seniors, just 15 minutes away from Las Vegas. The state known for its tax-friendliness towards retirees and its hot year-round climate, and the city itself is recognized as one of America’s Best Places to Live by MONEY and one of the safest cities in America by several organizations, including Forbes. Recently, the city launched its Age Friendly Henderson Action Plan, a collaboration with AARP that seeks to create age friendly communities that are safe and secure with affordable housing, accessible transportation and support services to enhance personal independence and encourage community engagement for seniors. True to its motto, Henderson is “A Place to Call Home” for more than 63,000 seniors.
To help seniors discover the most senior-friendly locations around the country, Caring.com conducted a new study, “The Best and Worst Places for Senior Living.” The Caring Senior Living Report analyzes and ranks 300 cities and 50 states on the quality of senior living in that area. The cities were graded using 46 metrics across five categories: Health Care, Senior Living & Housing, Affordability, Quality of life, and Transportation.
