My mom is at Grand Traverse Pavilions. They call me for every little medication change and any little bruises. Anything that happens, I am constantly in contact with them. My mom has been there for over 10 years now. When you go into the Alzheimer's wing, there are no odors or anything. If anybody has an accident with any of the furniture that is there, they have somebody who cleans it immediately. There are large bird cages with finches and doves for the residents to view. They have social gatherings with everybody and people that come in and help. They do crafts with the residents and even if they're not able to do them, they still involve them. I haven't tried the food, but all the residents seem to enjoy it. My mom's apartment is very nice. It's a two-person room divided by a half wall and then a curtain through the other part. They both share one bathroom. My mom has her own little spot with a TV. She doesn't have a lot of things in there with her, but you can personalize it. With regards to activities, they're very active with the residents, and even if they can't do it, they have somebody that does it right with them and talks to them all the time.

The food is horrible. Everything is pretty much frozen or out of a can! If you order things on their anytime menu they never have it! Or they just plain don’t bring you what you want. I’ve pretty much eaten tomato soup and mashed potatoes since I’ve been here. The place is always freezing cold and you have to keep Your head and arms under heavy blankets all the time. I will never take a shower here because it is way too cold. The hot water takes forever to get hot in the sink. I would look for another place if I were you! I’m about to start looking elsewhere for a warmer place to Go for my rehab. I wish I would have seen the bad reviews before I decided to come here because I would not be here now!!!

My mom is doing fine at Grand Traverse Pavilions and we're very happy. They have Bingo and music out on the lawn. The food is excellent. My mom's room is very clean. It's a private room and she likes it. The nursing staff is caring. She eats in her room, but the dining area is available if she wants to go there.

My mother is in Grand Traverse Pavilions, and I am there almost every day with her. The food and staff are wonderful. It is a very large facility with a number of wings, and it is wonderful.

Grand Traverse Pavilions is really an interesting place. They have a building that’s about a quarter of a mile long, plus million-dollar condos, if you want to buy a condo. They have every activity under the sun. It's a beautiful place. We toured it, but it was just too expensive.

My mother , in her 90's, spent 3 1/2 yrs in Aspen wing following a stroke that left her physically unable to get around by herself with early dementia as well. We can't say enough about the wonderful staff that cared for her with the respect we would want for ourselves. She was a gracious lady who appreciated the care she was getting, accepting of her condition and well aware of the demanding care she needed and grateful, as her family is, for what was delivered to her. Thanks to those special caregivers (to Paul especially) and nursing staff who identified how to reach and receive a response as she slowly receded. Whether it was kidding with her , and having the patience to await a response! , taking her to play word games or listen to music that challenged her to respond during her stay. Not to be missed, was the wonderfully patient hairdresser {with dogs}who cheerfully made sure she looked good and I don't remember her name, sorry. The staff and hospice was so accommodating the last few days as our large family visited, All very professional and compassionate. We can't say enough to thank them all for aiding a very peaceful passing. The Nelson/Westerholm family

My husband is getting great and wonderful care at Grand Traverse Pavilions. It’s exceptional! The staff is very attentive, and the food is good. I’d recommend Grand Traverse Pavilions, and I’d give it a five stars all the way around. It’s very clean -- no smell at all -- and it’s more home-like. It’s great!

Grand Traverse has a main building and three separate housing units on the property, and my mom is in one of the housing units, she is not in the big nursing home facility. It is like a community with different levels of care: assisted living and nursing home care. They care for folks that need to be in the nursing home or dementia care. They have a larger facility, the grounds are clean, and the area is close to a hospital. She’s got a very small living space, more like she only has a private room and a bath. The living room is common area, much like the sitting and the dining areas. For folks who don’t require as much care, they have actual apartments with a kitchenette, a living room, a bedroom and a private bath. I am satisfied with the care, but it would be nice if they had more staff. The people that worked there are really good and they really care about providing each resident with what they feel like they need. They do have quite a few activities, in fact the building that she is in is also an adult day care and they also provide respite care. They can go out of town for a trip or something and they can stay overnight.

My experience was awful with the staff at this nursing home. My grandfather was treated very poorly, and was even yelled at by a few of the nurses there, even though he could not understand what they were trying to say (due to Alzheimer's). They were fed awful food, and even though he was still pretty good at eating, they always fed him some kind of mush. They didn't bathe him NEARLY as often as he should have been, many times his wife/my grandmother had to force them to give him a bath, or do it herself. The nurses and orderlies were very slow responding to the other violent patients there, and did not isolate them as much as they should have been. There were outbreaks very often when we visited. The hygienic condition of the home was rather unsanitary and disgusting. A few times we would find dry urine on the floors in the bathroom, and on the toilet. Overall, we all had a bad experience at the Grand Traverse Pavillion.

After my grandmother died, my family decided to move my grandfather closer to our family home. Of all of the possible facilities in Traverse City, the Grand Traverse Pavilions was bar far the best choice. He absolutely loved his stay there until his recent death. The rooms are gorgeous, and the grounds are even more beautiful. My grandfather was in reasonably good health, and walked the beautiful wooded paths almost daily. He made new friends there, with whom he ate meals and chatted regularly. The food was pleasant, and the whole family ate there on several occasions when we went to visit him. My grandfather never complained of his life at The Pavilions. He had a comfortable and large room with all of the amenities he needed. It was always tidy and pleasant. When I visited, the place didn't feel like an assisted living facility or retirement home, but more like his own apartment that he could call home. I can't express enough praise for the facilities at Grand Traverse Pavilions. My grandfather was happy to live his last days there, and I was happy that he was able to finish his life in such comfort.

The Grand Traverse Pavilions always comes highly recommended from people in the community. They has several buildings on campus that are used for assisted living. The assisted living area is very beautiful with a grand lawn. The buildings are actually part of the old state hospital, but have been completely redone. They are beautiful. The nursing facility seems to be newer, but I wasn't overly impressed. The decor was pretty dated. Staff was friendly enough but not overly welcoming. The rooms were quite large especially since most of them are semi-private. I also toured the rehab side which was just finished. It was nice. The updates really make it stand alone compared to the other side which was for long term individuals. The strange thing about the rehab part was that it was directly next to the dementia unit?? I couldn't understand why you would place the rehab next to individuals that are acting out and yelling. Strange. The therapy gym was nice and big, and they even have a pool. Another thing that I didn't like was the gated entrance and limited parking. That was more annoying than anything. Overall as I said the campus was really pretty. It seems some areas have gotten updates where some haven't.

My Mother was there for 4 years. We were very pleased with the activities avileble on a daily bases for her to be involed in. The transportion to take her places she wanted to go, was helpful when it came to a point when we could no longer get Her into our own cars. The extra helpful things they did with us to accomadite, Her's and the family's needs, were uncountable. The stafe had a low rate of turn-over, so that ment the atentions to how she liked things done, or Her special needs, were more easly meet.
