Evergreen Commons is fantastic. They have a full physical education kind of facility, gym, all kinds of exercise classes, computer classes upstairs, dancing classes, knitting classes, and a walking group. They have a huge lunchroom and cheap nice lunches. It's a very nice facility. Anybody over 50 can join. They have a Parkinson's exercise class, but it's for people who are healthy and independent. We've been members for about 4 years there and have taken several exercise classes before my husband's brain problems started. They have classes you can sign up for, and you can get a personal trainer. It's mostly young old people, healthy and active doing activities for socialization and keep up their physical condition. They had a big bus tour that went to Chicago to see Hamilton, and they travel to other countries. They have 100 boys chorale and other programs. They won a national award and got some money for new equipment. They're really well known. If you go there during the day, you will see 150 to 200 people there having lunch, playing Bridge, shooting pool, in the swimming pool, in the exercise classes, sitting around the fireplace, reading the paper and talking, and there's a little coffee bar out in that lounge area. It's a pretty energetic and upbeat place to go.

Evergreen is awesome. It is a day care facility that my dad attends from 9-3 for 3 days a week. My mother cares for my father 24/7 except for when my father participates here .He has dementia and wandered last year so she does not dare have him alone. This place gives her respite. They truly care for him. They know his needs, likes and how to deal with him day to day. He kept telling them he did not need to be there so they "put him to work" and now he "goes to work" 3 days a week. They have preserved his dignity and pride, and now he feels needed. They have a nurse there to follow his blood pressure and speak to my mother on a regular basis on his plan of care. He tells me the food is great! It is wonderful to see him so happy!
