Adviniacare Newburyport was awful. I had surgery about three years ago and I went there. It was terrific. The people that worked at the place were terrific. The food was excellent and I had great care. When I got sick the second time, I chose the same place, but a new company bought them. It's just awful. Once I got my rehab and a day or two before I was able be discharged, they gave me permission that I could walk with my walker out in the corridor. When you walked by the nurse's station or the hallway, nobody would even speak to you. I've never seen such a place. The food was awful. I lost 30 some pounds from the time I had the surgery. I'll never go back to it. It's not. They need to have more help. For instance, the aide that I was assigned to get me cleaned up in the morning would come in and drop me the towel and a clean nightgown and leave, so I was on my own. I never had my bed changed. The other thing that really disturbed me while I was there, they had three patients who were very sick with COVID and I got COVID. I was out in the corridors walking up and down to get my exercise like I was supposed to. Nobody bothered to tell me there were three patients on the floor that had COVID. I never knew about it until I got it myself. I said, "Are there people here that's got COVID?" They said, "Yes, we got three, one is very, very sick." I had to be there for nearly an extra week because of it. The staff was poor. You put on your light to get help to go to the bathroom, and an hour later you were still waiting. A lot of times I couldn't eat their food. There was nothing wrong with the place. It's not the place, it's the help, the people they got in there taking care of the patients. Nobody ever spoke to me about activities. The people from physical therapy were great. I had the same girl every time and she was terrific. I was in a shared room, but my neighbor was not here. I was there for close to two weeks and I had the room alone, which was nice to me.
