My sister has been at Brentwood for almost two and half years. She has been in a variety of nice rooms, and has lived on both sides of the facility. My siblings, cousins and friends who have visited her have been impressed by the depth of care that she has received. She is a very special lady who has spent her life caring for others, so we are very grateful to Brentwood for taking such gentle and loving care of her. The staff, including those who work in the kitchen or the business office, the maintenance workers, the physical and occupational therapy staff, the musical guests who come to entertain residents, the nursing staff and the wonderful Activities department, all help make Brentwood a terrific place for her to live. Whether she actually joins in the activities that are available or just wants to be an observer, she is always made to feel welcome. Of course we wish most dearly that we were able to care for her at home, but as that is not a viable possibility, we are sincerely grateful to all those folks at Brentwood who provide her with a safe and caring environment.

Totally disappointed, appalled by Brentwood services. My poor mother had endure almost two weeks of being "neglected". When in need of a nurse/cna we waited 20-30 min for someone to come in. She soiled herself a couple times because she couldn't hold it any longer. She was embarrassed and felt shame. No one should have to ge through that, especially after a brain injury. Soad was accidentally spilled on the floor and the nurses/cnas were aware of it, yet still didn't clean it up until 2 hours later. Talk about a slip hazard. I eneded up wiping the floor so my mother wouldn't slip. We are pulling mum out of the facility this coming Monday because she is so unhappy there. The treatment didn't help with her homesickness. I do have to say, I do really appreciate the D.O.N, hewd nurse and a couple other who stepped up and visited with my mother when she was having a really bad day.

My brother recently passed away. He was a resident at the Brentwood Center. It was a difficult time, but the staff made me feel at home as I stayed with my brother to the end. It was obvious that everyone cared about my brother and his comfort, not only at this end of his life, but during his stay there. I will be forever grateful to their kindness and attentiveness to his needs.

This facility has very poor communication with families. From beginning to end there were mistakes made from staff and no accountability. No interest in patients overall well-being (only what they were brought there for). Phones weren’t working while there, activities were mediocre and at times cancelled without letting people know. Food was not appealing.

This facility was the only one available in southern Maine at the time we had to place my Stepdad! We had a family emergency! He was there for approximately three weeks. What a nightmare. He was “accidentally”over medicated, we assumed to keep him quiet! In my opinion, this facility is under staffed, poorly run! My 86 year old Mom is taking care of him again! He, since that stay has declined immensely! Very sad. I DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE in my opinion!

In my time spent at Brentwoods facility I was extremely pleased with the wonderful hospitality shown by the staff and nurses. I have been here on many occasions to visit ailing family members as well as friends. Many years ago my choir group performed for the residents at the facility and it brought nothing but smiles to their faces. The spirits run high at Brentwood. If I ever came into a situation where I needed to admit someone to this home I would have no hesitation to do so. The staff is extremely down to earth and make sure that their residents are taken care of and satisfied. Over the years they have done some remodeling to the facility and it looks fantastic! I highly recommend this place to anyone in need of extra care. Brentwood has been delivering great hospitality for many years now and appears to be going stronger than ever at this time.

When placing our mother in a nursing home we chose a facility that was close to our home and we knew the social worker. No a nursing home is not your home and never will be, but the staff treated mom as if she were their mom. She was loved, cleaned and fed and made a part of the community. The facility itself was clean and bright and responded to our questions and concerns. When we knew that mom was in the last few days of her life, they placed us in a private room and we were able to be with her in a more intimate way as she passed. That was 20 years ago. Since then I have had friends placed in the nursing facility and have witnessed that same loving care and home like atmosphere. I can recommend this facility without reservation to anyone looking for a skilled nursing home.

Brentwood is a really great nursing facility with many wonderful caring people that do their best with many difficult situations. Our Mother was put into Brentwood when we could no longer meet her 24 hour, 7 days a week, need for constant attention and care. She had a degenerative brain disease called Super Nuclear Palsy, and after a time, could not do anything for herself. The mind went and then the body, eventually causing death. Nursing Homes are varied in there abilities to care for people and we have seen the whole gamit of possibilities. It is never easy to put your family into a nusing facility, but I can't imagine a better place on this planet. We became very attached to Mom's care givers and they to us. They loved Mom and loved her as their own family might. We had Mom's hospice there at Brentwood and they were very kind to us, respectful and thoughtful. It is not a perfect situation in any nursing home, but Brentwood was as real and caring and loving as they come.
