My mother has been in Miller's Merry Manor twice. She was there for a few months and left because she wanted to move back in the house, but then she ended up breaking her leg and she's been back in there since December of this past year. She's been there overall about a year. I would rate them very high. It's a beautiful facility. The staff is extremely caring and nice. I have eaten there a number of times and the food is excellent. The rooms are big. She's got a nice 1-bedroom apartment with a huge closet, a fullt appointed large bathroom with all the facilities that she needs as far as handrails and a sit-down shower. They monitor her three times a day. They have plenty of activities. I can't say enough nice things about this place. They're really great. They have weekly trips, they take them shopping, and they take them to plays and other activities in the community, which she does participate in. She's happy where she is.

Miller's Merry Manor is a decent facility. I rated it a 3 because it did not go beyond my expectations for a nursing home. I will start with the positives. I liked how they had events for residents and family to attend. For example, I attended a Hawaiian style party once. They had music with a man singing live and banquet tables set up with a dinner for everyone. The residents seemed to really enjoy seeing someone sing and dance. They also liked the leis they were able to wear. The facility also did many activities according to the seasons like planting flowers, coloring, and other arts and crafts. My grandma always had painted nails while she was there. I remember her showing them to me often. I know she enjoyed that. I was not impressed with certain members of the staff. At times they seemed frustrated by questions my family would ask about my grandmother's progress with the disease, and how she was with participating in activities, eating, and her general attitude. We had a lot of items turn up missing that my grandma lost due to other residents stealing them and no one could located these items to return them, which was disappointing. Another thing that was disappointing was how they handled a certain situation with my grandma's feet. She was complaining a lot that her feet hurt and the facility kept advising our family to get her new shoes. It seemed like we had the same conversation with them over and over again. In some cases it turned out that she just needed her toenails cut.

While the facility and the staff itself were more than competent, the environment of a nursing home is inescapable. Miller's has a fine reputation, as it should, however I would be hard pressed to distinguish them from any other nursing home you see on t.v. and movies. Very cookie cutter. One thing that struck me about this place was the ongoing activities, there was always something going on which encourages a better overall lifestyle in my opinion. Reaching back to the cookie cutter statement, their food is also very bland; picture every single tray of food you've ever seen in a movie portraying boring, unappealing meal and that's what you have.
