The Best Independent Living Communities in Franklin County, PA

"Paramount Senior Living at Chambersburg was small and quaint and they had a great staff resident ratio. I love that they had big wide halls and it seemed roomy, but some of the rooms were incredibly small and I didn't like the rooms. They seemed a little stuffy. The studios were way too small. They had some amazing apartments, but the studios looked more like a very large bathroom. I don't know how you could even fit a bed in. The staff was nice, very kind, and very informative. It didn't sound like they had many activities that they told me about, and I didn't see any. I passed by the dining area and it was very nice. The whole place looked like it was remodeled recently. It had beautiful surroundings around it. The studio was so small, I could never put somebody in a small room like that. The apartment was very nice, but I don't think my father would've qualified for his needs. The place was very clean and I liked that it was so new and very nice."

"I visited a friend here. The residents seemed to enjoy it and they don't have any problems being there. When I went to visit the assisted living side I'd go on and sit down and have lunch and dinner with them. The food looked good. It was pleasant looking and appetizing. Everyone was friendly. It was a very clean place. I've visited the apartment and it was a very nice place. I think I liked it because it was cheerful looking, and it did not have a sick smell about it, and that impressed me. I don't want my son's mother-in-law going to a place that smells like urine or has a sick smell. It felt homey. The staff was pleasant."

"Ants from neighboring apartments has infested her kitchen as well, some of the older patients would often wander around confused. However the building did have very nice common areas, and provided some activities for the residents. They put up decorations for holidays and the staff was very friendly. The best part of this facility is the location, right next to the library, with a creek and a nice little park to spend time in. Residents seem to spend a lot of time outside! "

"We loved Menno Haven. We loved the availability and choices of cottages and the other full-sized homes and townhomes. The staff was very helpful. She answered all the questions she could on an initial visit and she was just very pleasant. You must buy into a certain level of eating in their restaurants or have to have a certain level of bucks each month. Otherwise, you can cook for yourself. Everything there was pristine. It was well-manicured. It was just lovely. The hallways were clean. I can't imagine a better upkeep. They probably have several large workout rooms. They have three swimming pools and one is quite large. They have several libraries. It's a huge place. I think they have a thousand residents, maybe. "

"Quincy Village had nice apartments. I was looking for either a cottage or an apartment, and they had some nice two-bedrooms and one-bedrooms. We had a very knowledgeable marketing lady give us the tour, and it looked like they have a lot of interesting things to do. They transport you from one place to another, so there were a lot of vehicles running around taking people to appointments and other places within the complex. They had fitness rooms, computer rooms, and nursing care if you needed it. "

"I wouldn't mind living there at Cottages of Shippensburg. They showed me the sample apartment and it looked okay. By looking at the outside and grounds, I expected the inside to be just a little better than what it was. I expected to see ceiling fans in the dining room and the bedroom at least, so that you can get some flowing air instead of having to always put on the air-conditioner or the heat. The staff was nice except the manager was in her office and I expected her to come out and at least greet me. It was the assistant who was communicating with me."
