"I toured Brookdale Southside. It's a resort. If I were being retired and looking for that, I would put that at the top of the list. It has a pool. It has everything. The staff who gave the tour was very professional and detailed, and focused on what your needs are and what you're looking for. They're very compassionate. I've seen a couple of the residents' rooms and the model. It's very detailed, very clean, and perfect for what you need."

"Windsor Pointe of Jacksonville has a lot of events. They include people who have come in to look at the facilities and they still reach out to them, and I've been to several of their functions. It's just a beautiful place. They have everything. They have an actual movie theater. The food that the chef serves is delicious. It's top-notch. You wouldn't even have to leave its facility to go anywhere. Then they have a lot of outside excursions to museums, orchestras, and just everything you could want. For Thanksgiving, they have a "Come in and Meet the team". They do a tour and you pick up a pie that this chef made. I have their key lime pie. It was delicious. I've never had that before. I didn't think I liked that but I almost ate the whole thing. The staff is very engaging and even the people that live there, always come out and tell you how great it is."

"It has a wonderful atmosphere, a lot of activities, very caring staff, and my mom got excellent care there. She was there on respite care in their assisted living for about 45 days. The facility is beautiful and in a convenient location. The staff was excellent, everybody's very helpful, and we had no problems with them. The food was also good. They had music every week and they had a lot of games that they played. My mom didn't participate, but they had them available."

"Grand Living at Tamaya is very pretty but very expensive. It had the exact same layout as the other Grand Living place, using the same cabinetry and everything. The common areas and the library looked exactly the same. They had the same piano, too. It was very nice. The people who assisted us were very nice, very friendly, and very helpful. They answered all of our questions. If we asked somebody a question and they didn't know it, they knew who to ask so that we would get an answer right away. They had appetizers for us on the day that we went, and they were really, really good. They have a swimming pool, a game room, and a bar. They had a beautiful place where they did painting, and there was somebody who was teaching people how to paint. They did some theater stuff there, too. They know what they're doing. They keep everything clean, modern, and updated as much as possible. Their staff is very well trained."

"This facility is by far the most beautiful community I’ve ever seen! The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The logo is true!! Looks like home, Feels like family. Great activity director. Housekeeping is amazing. The food is delicious and always so presentable. Couldn’t ask for a better place for mom & dad !"

"Seagrass Village of Fleming Island is a very nice place. I chose that one because in the little area my father can go in and out by himself when he is able. The other place that I looked at, they had to take him out to the little area. I know he likes to be outside a lot, and it was a nice place to sit outside. They all seem very helpful there. The apartments are clean, neat, and not too big. He has his own bathroom and a nice closet area. They allowed us to bring him a mini fridge, as long as we were the ones responsible for it and taking care of it. It doesn't have a living room and all that. It's just basically a bedroom with a bathroom in it. They seem to have a lot of activities. It's nice and clean and decorated. He's in the hospital for three weeks out of the month, but still he has to pay the full amount, and I know part of what he pays is for assisted living."

"Palagio Senior Living is a brand-new building. Everything is in order. It's perfect, and it looks like it's going to be a great success. It's beautiful. The staff members were very cooperative. They answer all your questions and they have the right answers to every question. They have it all together. They have everything there. The only complaint I have is that they don't have enough handicapped parking, but the lady said that is not under their control. It is designated by the highway department. They had about 6 or 8 handicapped parking spots and they were all full. Other than the few handicapped parking spots, they have a very nice facility, and everything is just beautiful."

"I had a good experience at Fountains at Mill Cove. I really should go back and try to partake in a meal and some of the other activities that they do. There's nothing they can do about this, but the square footage for the room is unbelievably small, 523 square feet. I think that's like a monastic cell, but I haven't ruled them out. It's close to my church, and it's close to the library and those are two things that I do a lot of. There's no problem with the cleanliness or the maintenance. It was good. They gave me a list of what they do in a month. They did a nice job of showing me around. There was the official woman, who I think runs the place, Stacey, and she put me in the hands of a young girl of about 24 called Amanda. Amanda showed me around. She talked more about life rather than pointing out different features of the place. I kind of had to pick up on that on my own while she was talking. It was not good for her to do that, but she's a nice, young girl."

"Canterfield of Clay County was very nice. The staff that we talked with was great. However, I was a little bit disappointed in the room that they showed us, and it might have been because that would be all that my mother could afford at this time without getting additional help. To me, it was set up more like a motel room. It was unfurnished. They didn't have any beds in there or anything. It was just one room with a little kitchenette, a little sink, a microwave, and a mini refrigerator. The bathroom was very well equipped for assisted living if somebody needed help like they have an emergency pull button there, and so I thought the bathroom was very nicely done. The experience was great. They have gone into detail on what they provide. The facilities are great. They have a library on each floor and you're welcome to go to the library any time. They have a movie day, they have a hairdresser that comes in and does their hair, and they have nice amenities and things like that. The people were friendly. She showed us menus. If they didn't want to come down to eat in their dining room, they could order something, and it would be delivered to them up there. They have places where you can do puzzles or read a book. It seems like they enjoy it."

"I live at Starling at Nocatee Independent Living. We have lots of activities. The people working here are friendly and easy to work with. It's a very pleasant building, light and cheerful. I love the location in Nocatee because we can walk to get our haircut and get our nails done if we want to. You can do it here, too. You can even walk to Publix. They give rides to doctors and to fun places like the symphony, and a variety of trips to take. We get two meals a day. We fix our own lunch, or you can choose to fix your own dinner. There's a plan for that. We had a dermatologist come to our apartment and I had some physical therapy when I had plantar fasciitis. I know there are other doctors and services. There's a hearing service. They have a gym and a treadmill, and that's very nice. We even have pickleball and a beautiful pool, too. They have movies playing at different times, a lot of Bridge, and cards."

"I found Westminster and want to move there next year. It’s close to my daughter, and they have financial clout to do what I want to do. I want a two-bedroom apartment with a full kitchen. They have access to a gun club, and the dining area is fine. You get credits that you can use for either breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The dining facility was good, and had a bar, so they had everything I want. I’m going there next week for a barbeque, and to get a better feel of the people there. They have a full nursing staff, a doctor onsite, access to a golf course, a workout facility, and access to another facility three blocks away which has a full complement of workout equipment I need."

"Vicar's Landing at Oak Bridge is very close to where we're actually living now. We were able to reserve a place there, so we took that. We will be going to independent living, but we like the continuous care they have, going from assisted living to end of life. They've got a very good facility doing that. The staff was very friendly. They were wonderful, very knowledgeable, and very pleasant. We like the location and everything about it. The meals are very good. They have everything we want. There's a swimming pool, aerobics, a gym, and PT."

"I toured the independent living of The Coves At River Garden. Everything looked new. I believe all of the structures were brick. There was parking available at each unit. It was very attractive. I was in the lobby for a good while, and I got a chance to see people going back and forth to different activities. I saw the restaurant, and that was about it. In terms of upkeep and cleanliness, it was top-notch and very attractive. The staff who assisted me there was very helpful. They were top-notch."
