"My mother was at Lexington Assisted Living. The place was OK. They had calling buttons if you needed to call somebody. It was good. They have a pool, game room, exercises, and a whole lot of stuff going on for their residents. "

"I liked Simi Hills a lot. It felt very warm and homey there. The apartments were large, which was nice. They showed me their schedule, and they had their shuttle, happy hour, and barbecues. The décor was a little dated. The staff were casual, friendly, easy going, vivacious, and fun. "

"The Ridge at Westlake Village was very tidy, nice, and new. I hardly saw any residents, and it seemed kind of empty. It has a beautiful deck on the top, but you're not looking out at anything very pretty. They're just buildings. It just seemed not personal at all. It was very nicely done, but that was it. The rooms were very nice, but the whole thing kind of felt a little cold. We didn't see much interaction with anybody, so you didn't get a real feel for it. The dining area looked nice. The whole thing was nice and brand new. They have a patio on the roof, and it is beautiful. However, there wasn't much ambiance. It was really well done. Parking was easy, and it was very nice, but it didn't have much feel to it. The staff was nice, but wasn't nearly as enthusiastic as the lady at the other place. I didn't try their food, but they gave us a box of probably the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had in my life."

"Home Care of West Hills, LLC #2 was close to where I live and that is good. What I liked about it was that it had just about everything that my wife would need. They're very friendly and they seem to know enough about taking care of old people. They were very nice and informative. They have a little porch in the backyard where they can go out and eat. They also play some games, like card games. There's no exercise or anything like that. Then they have a dining area (one inside and one outside). From what I saw, the facility looked very clean. One of the girls was with a mop and a bucket when I got there."

"It was very friendly, the residents and staff have much to offer as far as outings go, and I was impressed with their transportation. They were kind enough to pick me up at my son's house, take me to the facility, take me back home, and it was really a very nice and enjoyable two or three hours that I was there. The food was delicious and I was very impressed. I wish they had more apartments than just one. Other than that, everything else was fine."

"My wife has moved into AvantGarde Senior Living. They're very nice and they have a memory area. They have programs going on, there's sufficient staff there to help everybody, and they have entertainment and activities there. The place smells good, and the food is decent. They had a rabbi who had service there on Friday, and they had a band that entertained the residents after that. The holiday party was nice. It's closer for me, it's very nice, and also less money."

"Granvida Senior Living was excellent, beautifully-decorated, and extremely clean. The residents seemed to be happy and engaged. It was really fabulous. I would love to have my mother there. There's a neighbor of mine who was placed there by her daughter against her will, and I ran into her there and she was beaming because she loves it there. It's a great place for people to thrive and who can benefit from that environment. They have the active assisted living section and the smaller, more subdued memory care section. It's fantastic. When I first walked in, there was a social area with a coffee bar where you can make yourself a cup of coffee, and there were sofas and chairs. It just looked very comfortable. They had the activities posted. The staff member who showed us around was excellent and very informative. I received many follow-up calls, so their staff is very conscientious about following through."

"Mira Vista has clean apartments, one-bedroom and two-bedroom, upstairs and downstairs. They have a swimming pool, a rec room, a pool table, two Jacuzzis, and a very nice landscape. It was very well put together, and it's within my budget. You are only allowed to make up to a certain amount of money. You can't make over, say, $50,000 to live there; you have to qualify within a certain price range. The staff accommodated me very well. They're very receptive. So far, the only person I have interacted with was very, very polite and very helpful."

"It was a great help to have the lists provided by A Place For Mom, Caring.com and the sympathetic and capable staff. I was able to visit the places within close proximity and call the locations that were further out. I'm on my own in a quieter town closer to the ocean. It is much cooler than Woodland Hills where my son lives. This is a Senior Accommodation place, and I have a 2 bedroom unit with a little balcony all to myself. I miss my late husband at every moment, in everything I do. How sad he was unable to get this peace & comfort whenever we were in California. But he is in no more pain. I'm glad only of that. Hope people who have need of guidance and assistance in such living situations can get the very capable help I got from agencies such as these with the caring personnel I had the good fortune to survive this time of personal tragedy. "

"I wouldn’t recommend Sycamore. The building was nice, and it had a lot of amenities, but the rooms looked very small. It’s very hotel like. As I was walking down the hall, the smell from the different apartments was terrible. It would be suitable for a single person. The staff was absolutely fabulous. "

"My brother-in-law likes University Village very well and has put in a deposit already. The rooms are almost double in size. The layout of the facility is wonderful. Everything is easy to get to. They have 4 levels of care. It is only two miles from the hospital. They have a town car that takes residents on any medical appointments which was free. The food is outstanding. "

"What I like best about Santa Paulan Senior Apartments was probably the price and that it's in my hometown. It's got a pool. It's a big enough area and it's got enough parking. The staff who gave the tour was friendly. We just didn't like the whole application process that we went through, but she was friendly. They have their laundry on every floor. They have a little patio area. The apartment was big enough for what we needed. There's a kitchen and it's a complete apartment."
