Senior Suites of Bellwood

We went to see Senior Suites of Bellwood. We only toured downstairs because they didn't have a room available for us to see. It was very clean and welcoming. It looked like they held a lot of activities down there. They had a big room where they could watch TV and play games. And then there was a cafeteria on the other side. I only met one person and she was OK, but she wasn't all that welcoming.

The young lady at Senior Suites of Bellwood gave me a tour of a 1-bedroom apartment that she said was finished being prepped for a new tenant. Then she showed me the laundry room and a couple of other places there. I've noticed that you wouldn't know whether they have a place or not, that's my feeling about it. I don't know what it is when something is based on income; it seems like so many people get passed over and don't really get a true, honest chance to get into the community. That's not fair. I'm sure there's not a lot that anyone can do about that. There wasn't anything unpleasant in my experience though. The 1-bedroom I saw was very small. I don't even think you can get a full-size bed in that bedroom with anything else. Nothing spectacular about it at all. It was clean. It was nice. The lady who gave me the tour was very pleasant. They have a small exercise room. I didn't see any staff members, except going into the building. They indicated that they do have games and other activities during the week. They weren't explicit about what the games are. I presume it's bingo or something like that. The staff person, a young woman, who gave me the tour was very professional and courteous. She introduced me to the manager, who was pleasant as well. I saw a dining room, but I didn't see anyone sitting in there. I saw an outdoor area or a courtyard, and the landscape was very nice and calm. There's also a very large parking lot for customer, employee, and resident cars. The facility was well-maintained.

We toured Senior Suites of Bellwood, we liked it, it was new, it was very nice, and it was very clean. It’s very well-decorated, and it had a homey feeling, it was secure, but I wasn’t happy with the lady we talked with. She set up an appointment with me, and didn’t tell me ahead of time that there were no vacancies. My mother was put on a two or three year waiting list. They don’t provide meals, and it would not be a good fit for Mom.

The facility looks to be very nice from the outside looking in. However, from my initial call until my last interaction with them the staff have not assisted me at all. Information not sent to me and phone calls never returned. For whatever reason I was ignored.

Senior Suites of Bellwood was a great and nice place. The facilities were awesome and the location was great. The staff was good. The room I saw had a bedroom, living room, kitchen, and a bathroom. It was clean and sizeable for one person. The general areas, like the lounge areas and game rooms were all very nice.

Senior Suites of Bellwood is a new building. They have activities. My family lives in the neighborhood, so the location is perfect. The room size is perfect. I like this community.
