My sister is doing fine at The Phoenix at Lake Lanier. She seems to like it there. The staff is fine. I have no problems with them. The rooms are very nice and very upscale, but very expensive. She has a living room, a bathroom, and a bedroom. It's not big, but it's three separate rooms. They have an activities director, which my sister happens to be very fond of, and she's a very enthusiastic person. They have bingo, card games, exercise classes, church, and religious classes. They have something going on just about every day for people who want to participate. They have a library and a movie room, too. The staff is doing a very good job. They have a very large staff. Most of the places that I looked at and the place where my sister was, seemed a little bit short-staffed, and this place is not. They check on her every two hours and they manage their medication. I have to pay for it, but it's worth it to me. It's just that an average person without a lot of money cannot go there. I like it. It's very neat, very clean, very modern, and up-to-date. I've never really eaten there, but my sister says the food is good. She says that if she does not want what they have to eat, they will make her a sandwich or cook her a hamburger or a hot dog. The thing I noticed is that they just seem very friendly. They are excellent and the facility is very easy to get around. They got big wide halls. It's probably the nicest one I've seen. My sister got into this place in April. She had to go to the emergency room at least one or two times a week, but we have had no emergency room trips since April and this has been just a godsend for me because I live about 60 miles away from her. So, I am so thankful that I'm not having to run up to the hospital in the middle of the night two or three times a week.

They no longer have excursions outside of the buildings. No music unless it's okay by management

We toured The Phoenix at Lake Lanier. They got a beautiful setting outside, and they've got more in terms of memory care if you're needing more help. The facilities are very nice, the setting is great, and the staff is very friendly. The room that we saw was gonna be set up for hospice care, so it wasn't homey and inviting, but it was nice and small. It was just for a single person. They didn't have a room to show us the kind of apartment that we were thinking about. The staff that gave the tour was knowledgeable and helpful.

I toured The Phoenix at Lake Lanier. It was a nice facility, with a lot of open space. I didn't care for some of the apartments though, they didn't have a kitchen. The staff did great. She was very accommodating, and showed me everything. Very good. There was a nice, big, dining area and they had an actual pub there so I thought that was pretty neat too. I know they have a movie theater. I know they had an activity sheet and everything that she gave me. Their food looked pretty good too. They looked like good menus.

Location was incredibly important, and The Phoenix at Lake Lanier is located on the lake. They were able to have full assisted living care and aging in place, so they don't ever have to leave. The person that gave me the tour was very knowledgeable and compassionate. She was focused on informing me and educating me about the process, more than selling me on the location. The rooms were clean and bright. They looked well-kept. The entire facility looked like it was relatively new and had been well-maintained. I liked that. They have games, movies, book clubs, field trips, and exercise. Basically anything under the sun you can imagine, they have it. The people that I met there as well, I thought they were all very helpful and kind. They apepared very interested in the process. They're not just selling me on the place, but gave me information about the entire process of picking a place, which I thought was important. It was very much set off of the main road. It was surrounded by a wooded area and overlooked a lake.

My parents started in the assisted living of The Phoenix at Lake Lanier, but that did not work out, so they're now in the memory care area. I think the community is wonderful. It's aesthetically beautiful, and the staff is very caring. Even though I'm still constantly there a lot for them because they're still having a hard time transitioning, the staff not only takes care of them, they even asked me, "Are you OK? Is there anything that could get you?" So, I like the fact that they recognize that it's hard on us and they're being genuine. Their room is small for them compared to the house that they came from, but my husband and I worked very hard bringing things of theirs into the room like we brought some of their furniture and that kind of thing. Any time there may have been an issue or there was something I brought up, they immediately took care of it. The building is clean, very well kept up, the lawn is taken care of.

My father is over at The Phoenix at Lake Lanier. He's not happy but he won't be happy anywhere because he's 95. He's over there for now and with this Covid mess, I think he's just going to have to stay where he is right now. He doesn't really understand the Covid thing, he said he's going to hire a lawyer to get him out of there and that it's getting ridiculous because he's just in his room and can't go anywhere. I tried to explain to him but he's just like many others. I don't know the ratio of workers to residents there. I didn't get an answer of how many they were there. They have to take into account that some of the elderlies, especially my dad who's been used to being waited on by my step-father for 42 years, he doesn't want to wait for anything. It was immediately handed to him. Now that he's there, I know they can't be just there at someone's beck and call, so he just had wait for everything, but I'm just concerned about if he would have an accident, that it would be cleaned up. Or during shower time, my father said a staff told him they're going to come back but they never show up and he never saw him again. Of course I went talk to the staff about it and they tell me it's not true but I'm not there to see that. He said he doesn't like the food, he doesn't eat much of anything and that he doesn't want anything, he wants fast-food. When I talked to people there when I came to visit, they said he eats lunch and dinner and he eats pretty well but then I get a different story from him. That he doesn't want it and he wants me to get him away from there. His room there is basic. He didn't want me to bring a lot of things because he's in a wheelchair so he didn't want the room to get crowded because he couldn't move around. It's basic, just a 1-bedroom, open with a bathroom and closet. There's a little cubbyhole for a little dorm-type refrigerator. I said I'd get him one of those but he said no. He just sits in his room and watches TV. He doesn't want to go anywhere. Which is strange because he was always active with gardening his vegetables and fruit trees and he was always working outside with the cows here. Facility seemed clean in the few times I went in there. The staff, some are really good while others seemed a little bored of what they do.
