What ongoing training does the staff receive in dementia care?
All team members receive dementia training through various means on a daily weekly and monthly basis. Training is delivered to the team via online course work, monthly specific topic group meetings and daily face to face on the job guidance via their direct supervisor. Backed by more than 30 years of dementia care experience and expertise, our Clare Bridge program uses findings from the most current research to adapt training and care innovations to serve our residents.
How many staffers are on duty in the daytime and overnight?
In addition to ensuring that the community is staffed to meet state-specific staffing requirements, Brookdale uses a proprietary system that calculates staffing needs based on the care needs of the communities’ resident population. We feel that this staffing model sets us apart from our competition as it ensures that both state requirements and resident’s needs are met.
What programs or activities does Brookdale Centre Pointe Boulevard offer to keep residents engaged? How does the staff engage residents' long-term memories?
Daily schedule of activities that are designed to promote residents quality of life. Activities to promote stimulation and engage them in reminiscing and discussion groups. Music and intergenerational programs are also provided. Exercise classes are provided to encourage range of motion of lower and upper extremities. In addition, community groups are included on the activity calendar to provide interaction with people in our surrounding community. Community outings are planned at intervals, weather permitting for resident enjoyment. Special Events are planned monthly with Family Night and Holiday celebrations. Reminiscing programs designed to stimulate past events in their lives. We also utilize an interactive in touch system that promotes cognitive strength and awareness, pet therapy, cluster programming, daily exercise, and activities specific to the resident’s individual needs.
Who assesses residents' health and cognitive functioning? How often is that assessment repeated?
Our Health & Wellness Director does an assessment of each prospective resident’s physical and cognitive needs before the perspective resident moves into the community. As a standard, each resident is reassessed every thirty (30) days. While the Health and Wellness Director is directly responsible for each residents care, we take a team approach to care oversight and management. Our interdisciplinary team collaborates to offer personalized care for each resident. Teamwork for resident care helps reduce risks, enhances quality and effectiveness and may improve healthcare outcomes. Using our Collaborative Care Review meeting, we routinely review resident information, identify needs, design action plans and solutions and communicate plans to key associates. we feel this collaborative approach benefits our residents physical and cognitive well being.

Essential oils used to enhance appetite and promote relaxation. Family style dining with care associates assisting throughout the meals side-by-side. Specialized meal options are offered to those who need them.
