My husband and I are living in Brownsville Transit Village Senior Apartments. The grounds are nice, but it is right next to the railway and the train station, so the wind blows all the time with trash here and there. They are pretty good about picking it up, though, and there's a nice young man who is constantly working on the inside of the building. The people are quite friendly. I have already gotten to know a few of them. There are a lot of Hispanics and I don't speak Spanish, so sometimes I'm very lost. There's an exercise room and a laundry room down on the first floor, so if you want to wash, you have to go downstairs. There is a facility inside the apartment where you can buy your own washer and dryer. That's what we did because my husband is blind, so I can't be leaving him constantly alone all the time like that. The lady who accommodated us here bent over backward to help us get financing from the government. When you ask the staff something, they would respond. I had a problem with the vent in the bathroom, which was very noisy, and they were right there to fix it. I like it here. I can come and go as I want and I don't have to respond to anybody. I was able to get my dog and my cat in, too. The dog is a support animal for my husband. Of course, you have to pick up their poop which is fine with me because I've always done that. The only complaint I have is that the middle building is owned by the Brownsville Transit Station. They have an elevator in the garage, which has four floors, and they allow us to park on the third and fourth floors for free. The only trouble is that the elevator isn't working so I have to leave my husband, who is handicapped and blind on the first floor, go up to the third floor, get the car, and then drive down and pick him up. It's not our leasing office that's the problem but the Brownsville Transit.
