My husband's Aunt lived at Pacific Gardens for several years at the end of her life. She went from living alone in her home with some outside help a few hours a week to Pacific Gardens and the family was very worried about her transition. Our chief complaint was that she didn't move in sooner. Within two weeks she was regularly sitting with a group in the dining room and participating in a few of the provided activities. When we visited, all the staff knew her name and would address her with a friendly hello. I visited several times a week for the years she lived there and got to know some of the staff myself. We always felt comfortable with her living there and she seemed to enjoy herself. There would often be singers and other musicians to entertain the people who lived there, they activity staff would give drinks and lights snacks, our Aunt always liked the happy hour snack gatherings. Pacific Gardens has a bus service that takes residents to appointments and to outside activities. We never planned on using it to take our Aunt to any appointments but we got caught in a bind once and the office staff happily arranged to take her to an appointment and my husband was able to meet the bus in front of the hospital. In the years she lived there, we were impressed with the food, our whole family even enjoyed a Thanksgiving dinner there. Overall, we were very happy with Pacific Gardens and would recommend it to anyone looking for a small community for themselves or a loved one.

My godmother had lived in her home for over 60 years. She didn't want to leave but knew she couldn't stay any longer. Family members looked at numerous facilities until we found Pacific Gardens. My godmother felt very comfortable there until she passed. The staff was wonderful to her, they were warm and caring and made sure she was included in many activities. This attention was important because her eyesight was very poor. She loved the activities and the camaraderie with other residents. The food was delicious and the facility was clean and attentive to needed maintenance and/or occasional upgrading. She found her new home there and her family was delighted. We would definitely (and have) recommended Pacific Gardens to others.

Pacific Gardens Assisted Living & Memory Support was really good. I liked the tour and I liked the way they do things, but even more than that, I know someone within a couple of blocks from that place and I'm there a lot, so I see them bringing the people for walks, getting them out outside the facility. They take them out, they get them to exercise, so they're doing what they say. I'm very impressed with that. I think that's a really good place. The lady that did the interview was nice. She seemed to know what she was doing. She was knowledgeable and was able to answer my questions. We went through the kitchen and we saw the food and saw how they handled all of that and I thought it was very nice. I would be very happy if we chose that. That would be a nice place for my mom in that area. The facility was very clean. They have a couple of nice courtyards. There was a place for them to play games and hang out inside and outside. They have a nice TV area for them to watch movies together and then individually, not in their own space. I liked it.

Pacific Gardens Assisted Living & Memory Support had a very homey feeling. It was very comfortable. The rooms were lovely. Where they eat and dine was very nice. It was situated in a nice and safe neighborhood. The staff was extremely wonderful and very informative, trying to figure out what would be our specific needs, and she had a lot of knowledge about the healthcare industry. It was extremely clean. It seemed like they had different kinds of opportunities for people to have different activities. They had a courtyard.

I've toured Pacific Gardens Assisted Living & Memory Support. Both assisted living and memory care are combined, one side of the facility is memory care and the other side is assisted living, and they commingle. My first impression is that the place is cold. The apartments look fine, it's just that the rest of the facility gave me a real institutional kind of appeal. It did not elicit happy feelings, in me anyway. The staff who gave the tour was fine, she was friendly and accommodating and seemed competent. We took a look at the dining area, it was inferior to the place we chose for my mother-in-law. We saw people playing bingo, we saw people outside reading or just sunning. I would suggest better cleanliness. When we got in the elevator, we were stuck to the floor, so somebody needed to clean off that elevator, that was right off the bat anyway. I'd just suggest that the general upkeep could be better.

Making the decision that it’s time for a loved one to move to an assisted care facility is a difficult one. I know it was for my family. With many questions and many choices, we feel so fortunate to have found such a caring place as Pacific Gardens. My great aunt spent her last year and a half there after macular degeneration took her sight and her ability to be the active woman she had always been. The staff of PG became her eyes—they enabled her meet new friends, participate in group events and stay connected with the world she loved. My family is so grateful for all the caring and attention she received and that she could stay active and content. To PG staff--Thank you!

My mom moved into Pacific Gardens Assisted Living & Memory Support. I like everything. They're very pleasant. They're very kind. They seem very professional and caring. She's in a studio apartment. The dining room is very elegant. The main gathering room is extremely elegant, with the fireplace, piano, veterans wall to honor the veterans, very luxurious furniture, and all kinds of nice things. Very well-appointed. She enjoys going into the dining room and meeting people, and she's playing the piano in the main gathering area for people. She's a pianist, they have a real nice, very well-tuned piano, and she's playing that for everybody. She's starting to meet some other residents and enjoying their company in the dining room. I don't think she's been doing any other activities. She's just not feeling great, and not up to speed yet. We're not allowed to eat with the residents yet because of COVID. She likes the food. It's highly expensive, but it's still better than the other options. I'm impressed. My dad visits her every day, and he likes it too.

Pacific Gardens Assisted Living & Memory Support was a much bigger facility. I saw the memory care department, but I didn't see anything going on there so the part I saw well, was the assisted living. It feels much more like a hotel. It's very big and open, and the apartments feel like a hotel as compared to someone's house. Everywhere else that I went was kind of a house that was adjusted to be an assisted living care. This one was like a hotel or something that they redid so it has a much more open feeling. Every dwelling unit has its own shower so you get helped in your own shower as compared to getting help in a community shower. It is kind of a little bit more personal.
