My mother-in-law moved to Brookdale Valley View. They seemed caring. The reason she picked it was that they could take her cat. They allow small pets. That's one of the big reasons she took it, out of all the ones we looked at. The staff was great. The chefs, the cooks, they're all very good. They're very helpful. Whenever we've asked them to help her with certain things, they do it right away. They had a guy that did maintenance. We had something that was broken, and he came in to fix it quickly. The nurse is nice there. They call us if there's a concern. They seemed pretty attentive. They have a lot available. They have a library, and they have a rec room for them. There's a patio outside that you can go to. The dining area is nice. They keep her room pretty clean. They come once a week and clean, and they do her laundry. The facility itself is pretty nice. She's got a nice room upstairs. It's small. I ate with my mother-in-law a couple of different meals. They allow friends and family to come and eat. They offer them a choice of food they can choose from, breakfast is like whatever you want. You can have anything from pancakes to cereal or oatmeal, whatever you want you just get it. But for lunch and dinner, they have a set menu of two items to choose from, two dinners or two lunches. Sandwiches are always available if you don't want one of the meals or cooking, but the food is really good. My mother-in-law gained some weight since she's been there. She's not mobile, so they take her down for all the meals. They do cards and bingo. There's a choir music church kind of a thing that she goes to. She's a Christian, so she loves to go down and participate in that. They have crafts. They have jewelry making and things like that. She hasn't participated in a lot of the other things. She has friends that come play cards with her, and they do that in the rec room down there. They take them to places that they want to go and shop.

I went to Brookdale Valley View for my father. The location is perfect because it's right down the block from me. It's a nice area. The facility is smaller, but it's nice and clean. They can do all the services that we need, and the price is pretty good. The staff was good, and you feel a good positive atmosphere when you step inside the community.

Brookdale Valley View was very, very nice, and very clean. They have a lot of activities, they actually have a restaurant where the patients can go down and order, they had waiters and buzzers. They can order there or have it brought to their room. The unit I saw was very clean, and it's like a little apartment, it's just a bathroom and a bedroom, but it has a view of the courtyard. They come twice a week to do the laundry, and they have the restaurant, room service, and all the activities. It's roughly $5,000 a month and that's high; it is month-to-month. I didn't see the menu, but they had one on the table and they had a waiter taking the order of one of the tenants. It was a really nice big restaurant, very flowing, clean, and open, just like a little cafe.

I like Brookdale Valley View. Even though it's an older facility, it's very well-maintained and clean. I like the people, they were very nice and receptive. The workers were very nice. The girl that was the sales manager that we talked to, it was her first day at the facility and she handles everything very well. At the very beginning, she had a more senior staff there to make sure that she was doing everything the right way, but it was very nice. The room was was nice, it was a studio but comparable to those more expensive high-end communities. They had a lot of activities, they have arts and crafts. It's a smaller facility, there were maybe 45 to 50 residents. There's not a big courtyard area but it's serviceable when you're dealing with a 95-year-old. The dining room was easily located by the rooms for assisted living, especially for people that needed a little more assistance.

I toured Brookdale for my friend. It was lovely and comfortable. Kristin, I believe she was the director, was very helpful and thoughtful. It was good. I was very happy and pleased with it. I saw the dining room, and I have nothing but positive things to say about it. During my time there, I was very pleased. As far as the dining room goes, it was clean, well-organized, and inviting.

My mother-in-law stayed in Brookdale Valley View short term. The people there are very friendly and very helpful. She liked playing bingo every day and was a positive experience, really didn't have any negatives at all. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was average size and not too big, but she didn't need a big room. I guess the only negative I heard from her about it , was the TV, cable loses reception occasionally. They have bingo and then they have an outdoor patio, where they occasionally have a musician that would come. It's Christmas time, so they had Christmas musicians come and play for them. We had no problems. It's a little bit older complex, so it's not new and shiny. It's a smaller complex, which is fine with us, but it's kept up very well. The parking is not great, I should say. She seemed to be very happy with the activities.

My mom is in a Brookdale community, specifically Brookdale Valley View. It is located close to me and I was very impressed with the consultants that we talked to. They were very helpful, very considerate, and really helped us along. Everyone has been really helpful and really kind. They made my mom feel comfortable. She actually said she loves the apartment and I did not think that would happen. She is doing well. They listen to her and she appreciates that. I've been in there because I had to help move in my mom's furniture. The apartments are very clean, neat, and simple. They're easy for her to navigate. We're very pleased with it. I tried their food and it's really good. They are not serving in the dining room right now, but they're bringing the food to the rooms because of COVID. I have seen the dining room virtually and that's it. I have been impressed with the staff. They have all been there for a long time. I think the main nurse has been there for 25 years, which says a lot. They're very helpful with my mom. So far everyone has been kind to her, so that's a good thing. I'm very impressed with the staff so far. I enjoyed the food. My mom has not been able to participate in anything because of COVID, but they send out a newsletter every month and they list all the activities. I know that some of them have been watching movies that are socially distanced. For me, it's really expensive, but we're willing to do it for the care because she needs it.

My grandmother is in Brookdale Valley View. We met with the director and his partner in person, but we were outside social distancing. We just got to do a video tour of the inside, and it was great. They were really prepared for that. They had brought us all the information we needed and had all that ready to go and then from there, they talked through the things that we were interested in, as far as what type of a room layout we would want and all those things, and they showed us multiple options via video. We were outside and they were inside, so it was great. They were really helpful and very on top of it as far as having been prepared. They were really quick to walk us through and getting us the information and helping us get that processed. It was a great experience. The outside was fine. Everything seemed well manicured. We were outside on the main street. There's like a courtyard that's a quieter and a nicer area for the residents to be in. We didn't see the courtyard, but from what we saw on video, it looked great. There are activities, but we didn't get to see any of that. We feel like that was the best financial option. She seemed to have more things like activities and services provided for the cost that we are paying there versus what we found at other places.

Facility wise, Brookdale was comfortable. The layout is pretty typical. It's located on a busy corner. You see traffic outside, and no mountains or anything. My backdoor here in Cedar has beautiful mountains just a mile away. I spoke with a couple of residents and they seemed to be satisfied with it. The staff was competent.

I went to Brookdale Valley View, and I liked it very much. I was very pleased with it, except the one place that I was able to see and was available at that time was smaller than I wanted. I need a little larger place. I really would like a 2-bedroom or something like that. Also, I have pets, and I need a place to take them outside. I had lunch there, and it was nice. The staff was wonderful. One thing I really liked about it is that it is close to my son. I have a small Fiat, and they said that, as long as I could drive, I could bring it there and have it there.

Brookdale Valley View seemed to be a very nice, small facility. There are only two floors and maybe 50 rooms. It seemed like a very nice, manageable size. All of the staff members I spoke with were very friendly and seemed very caring. It is in a very good location because right across the street is a lot of shopping like a drugstore, bank, and grocery store, and a 99 cent store, which elderly people really like. The rooms were quite small, but I really liked the feeling of intimacy there.

The director at Brookdale Valley View was so very helpful. She was excellent. The facility is going to be too expensive for my brother, but she took the time to make a few phone calls to other facilities and in general just talked with me about my options. The dining room looks very nice. Everything was good and the visit was very nice.

The units were large at Brookdale Valley View. They had two bedrooms that were available. The grounds were very nice. The building was a little bit older. The surrounding area was not as nice. The person who gave us the tour was very nice, and the restaurant hostess was very friendly.

I have been to Brookdale Valley View. The place was clean, and the people seemed very friendly. They only had a shared room, and we are trying to get a private room for my mom, so that was the problem there. I saw their dining setup, and it was very nice. They had assigned seating for three or four people at the table, and it seemed the accommodations were large. I would have like to have been able to ask them about their medical procedures like who dispenses the medicines, et cetera, in order to know that. Also, I would like to have known what the patient to staff ratio was because those kinds of things are important to us. We'd like to know if one person is taking care of 15 people, then how often they get a chance to see them. Those are the kind of things I would like to have been able to sit down and have a discussion with somebody back there. Valley View stood out because I knew that the accommodation was close enough to my sister that it will allow her to be able to go over there and everything else.

My sister was at Brookdale Valley View from April 3rd through the 11th. It was the name that was recommended by the rehab facility that she was in. She was supposed to be going home, but then we knew that we had a vacation coming up, so they recommended this place. She loved it; she had a great time. She said the staff was very caring, they had a lot of activities, and she really enjoyed that. As far as the actual patient's reaction, I would say it was totally positive, but myself and my other sister were the two that went on vacation, and we were a little dissatisfied when we found out that they allowed her to sign herself out and walk across the street to a store; we did not feel that she should have done that on her own. She needed a couple little small things like batteries for the thing that takes her sugar count, and I feel that they should have gotten it for her and not allowed her to walk across the street. She is a diabetic, and four months ago, she fell and broke her hip. That's why she was in the rehab center prior to this. I just thought they used poor judgment in that case, but she was totally happy that she went to the store, and she got to buy candy and soda unsupervised. My other sister and I were not very happy about that. The sister that I was there with liked the caring staff -- because she is very caring -- the activities that they provide, and all those things. It seemed like a very nice, clean facility.

Emeritus is like a hotel. The staff was nice. The coordinator was very professional and pleasant to talk to. Even the cleaners and the maintenance guy were all very pleasant. It was a very nice place. It was the ideal situation for an elder person to live there if they still want to live independently. You can have pets inside. Their dining room was fabulous. It was like a restaurant. They have different activities like movies, exercises and church. However, the place is just too big for my mom.

Among the three facilities I saw, it was the one I liked the least. The people were nice; it was just older, and it didn't have as much to offer. They were friendly, and I didn't feel like I was in a rest home kind of thing.

I found the right place for me. Emeritus at Valley View is a place where they feed me and take care of me. It's very good, and I’m pleased. They have a lot of activities, and the staff coordinates them very well. They’re very friendly. If you need the food brought to your room, the kitchen staff will do that for you. The meals were just OK; they weren’t as good as some of the other stuff. They have several bingo games. They have some board games, and they have some trivia. They have a bus that'll take you to shopping and things like that. Their maintenance and up-keep is very good. My room is comfortable. It's just right, and it fits me very well.

The rooms are very small. I wasn’t expecting them to be big, but they were smaller than I expected. The bathrooms weren’t the handicap bathrooms. They just simply were normal bathrooms with grab bars, and I expected fully handicap-accessible bathrooms, and Emeritus at Valley View wasn’t as nicely decorated as the other Emeritus facility that we visited. It was OK. It didn’t have a very bright look to it. It looked kind of dark and older. I think it needed some work. But the people were nice and forthcoming. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. They gave me good information. They gave me brochures with all the information and a price list. They were good about that.

I had toured Emeritus at Valley View. Their rooms were in fairly decent size and were clean. When I first went there, the director was in a meeting and I couldn't meet with her and there were a couple of staff members that took me around and were really very helpful and when the director came, she thank them for taking me around and the she continued and gave me more information. The residents were playing cards or bingo in one of the rooms when I was there and everybody seemed to be very involved in it. One of the reasons why I gave it a high rating is because of its location. Across the street was a small shopping center with a couple of restaurants and less than a block away was a public library, two blocks away was the park and if you go the other direction around two blocks and across the street, there was there another mall with some fancy restaurants. They also have a pharmacy in the area.

Emeritus at Valley View provided a great home for my grandfather while he was there. The staff was extremely friendly and the people that also lived there were great companions. The rooms were nice, but not too fancy. The windows were the old kind that are made of a bunch of slatted glass which were a bit drafty. They did provide some programs in the main room, but my grandpa wasn't very interested in those. The onsite hospice was just okay, but was a necessary thing a couple of times for us. The facility did provide some outings for the group, using their own transportation. Not the fanciest of places, but for the cost it was a good alternative.
