"I toured Bickford of Chesterfield for my father, and it was a beautiful facility. It was sort of the place I needed to be myself because I would be comfortable there. It was very nice, very clean, and very well-kept. It wasn't old and it looked like it had been probably one of the newer buildings. It was bright and airy. The eating and the common area were very, very nice. In the memory care part, they did have like an outdoor area. They could walk out into the courtyard, but the thing that I did not like was the memory care was just one part as opposed to a memory care facility where they have the whole building to themselves. The common areas were clean and spread out. I met with the director, and she was very kind. I had a lot of questions because it was kind of early in my search, and she was very patient, and she answered all of my questions. She was very personable, and I felt like she really cared about how everyone was treated and taken care of, and it's not just with memory care, but on the assisted living side too. She was just the right person for the job, and the right person as a director."

"I was very impressed with Morningside of Bellgrade. I did not get the dimensions of their rooms or anything. I haven’t really looked at it. The whole place was absolutely gorgeous, and I was very impressed with the accommodations and everything. The only thing I didn’t like was the woman that I talked to. She was very snobbish, and that’s the only thing I didn’t like about Bellgrade, but that would never stop me from not going there. When the time comes, I will then figure out money-wise and everything else. I liked the location. "

"The staff at Spring Arbor was good, but we just talked to the sales people. Their rooms were very nice. The dining room was neat and clean. They had a lot of daily activities like bingo. "

"We went to The Harmony Collection at Hanover. It was clean and modern. Everyone was super nice. The community was beautiful and spread out. It didn't feel cramped. It felt like a very nice apartment complex. They had onsite services for laundry, nurse visits, and medication help. They had a lot of variety of food, and they catered to different dietary needs. We toured a studio apartment. It was spacious and beautiful. It had modern amenities and everything. We also toured the two-bedroom and the one-bedroom. They were very nice. It was like an average apartment. It was lovely."

"What I liked best about the Heritage Green of Hanover was the fact that it was a very small community and it was located in a neighborhood. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Cleanliness was good. I did have a coffee in the break area. It was very clean with a selection of beverages. I liked the fact that it was just one story. It had a nice patio and an outside area to sit. The people there were friendly. I just liked the area that it was in."

"My grandmother had always been eccentric, so as she got older and her "eccentricities" progressed, we were in denial about the real problem: Alzheimer's disease. Once denial over her condition faded, denial over her living condition set in. We thought that we would be able to give her the adequate care she'd need. The reality check came when she flushed some washcloths down our basement toilet and flooded that level of the house. She said she was only trying to clean it. After looking into a few nursing homes and assisted living facilities, we weren't quite sure what would work. My husband and I came across Sunrise and were pleasantly surprised to find that despite her dementia she was still able to live the "assisted living lifestyle" in a community specific to the needs of those with Alzheimer's and dementia. After the tour we knew it would be perfect. Instead of being hospital-style, you walk in and feel as if you're walking into the living room of a lovely house. Everything is clean and neat, with a dining area that puts most restaurants to shame. Each resident has their own apartment, and days are revolved around the resident's needs and wants, not the needs and wants of the staff (who are all caring professionals). My husband and I can visit any time we'd like. From what I've seen in the past few months of her stay, my only complaint is that I wish there were more physical activities for the residents. Of course, the high quality of care at Sunrise comes at a high price as well. We are lucky enough to be able to afford it. However, she does share an "apartment" with another resident, as a personal apartment is even more expensive. All in all, we are pleased with our grandmother's new home. "

"It was nice, and the tour was nice and very informative. The memory care unit was on the smaller side and I wasn't quite comfortable with the setup. The rooms were down a long hall, and I just felt that if my mom was in her room it would be too far away from the attendants' station and all the activities, and I wasn't comfortable with that. The community itself was fine and it looked like it had everything that my mom is going to need. The people seemed pleasant and everybody seemed to know everybody else, so from that standpoint, it was fine. The staff was very helpful and open. It would probably just not fit what we were looking for for my mom."

"Parkside Assisted Living is in a rural location, so it's quiet. The staff during the tour was like a car salesman, so it came off as being fake and a forced niceness. I had a cheeseburger and fries, which were a little bland, but it was a good portion size. It smelled like urine. The farther in the facility you went, the stronger the smell became, and it was really strong even in the cafeteria area, which was a turnoff. The room was pretty nice and adequate, so I have no issues with the room."

"My mom has been in Commonwealth Assisted Living at the West End for 2 years now. It is a very clean and very nice. The people are very good and caring. She has a private room, and it has a good amount of space. She was able to take some her stuff with her. The food is very good. It is personalized and very well done. "

"Sancerre Atlee Station is brand new. It's within three miles from our daughter's home and also about three miles from a local medical facility hospital in the area. We liked the apartments that were available. We liked the size, what they looked like, and all that. The staff was very informative and answered our questions. The facility was very clean."
