"The staff at Sterling House are very friendly and supportive. My grandmother has told me many times that, while she was apprehensive about moving out of her longtime home and losing independence, she does not regret her decision. She feels supported but not smothered, she is able to participate in activities with friends who are of similar mindset and age as her. The staff are good about not doing everything for the resident if they can do it themselves. My grandmother is very independent and the staff have come up with a great care plan that allows her to be independent while receiving the care that is necessary for her health and well being. There are classes that she can take as well as events she can go to so our family doesn't worry about her being cooped up like she was in her big house, especially in the Minnesota winter! And, it's a relief to be able to stop worrying about my grandma falling on the ice when she goes to get the mail, or when she's upset about no one being around to shovel her sidewalk. My one complaint is that Sterling House is very pricey and it is very difficult for my grandmother to afford it on her fixed income. "

"My tour at Ecumen Litchfield was good. It was a smaller town, so that was good. The staff that gave the tour was very helpful. The rooms or apartments were good, it's a little older construction but you really couldn't tell. It was very nice. I didn't try the food but their dining area was fine, it had adequate space and it seemed reasonable. They had some patio space. Because it was an older construction, it was more within the neighborhood, so it wasn't as spread out as the other one I toured, which was newer."

"I was impressed with Island View Manor. I like their staff too. The facility has an elevator. There’s always a staff member inside my friend’s room to answer the door. I have recommended this facility to someone. The room’s layout is not the open type. When the staff is in the kitchen, my friend could not interact with them when she is in the bedroom. "

"We visited Vista Prairie. We saw one room, and that was nice. The staff was nice. They have a dining room, a library, a chapel, and an exercise room. They had a nice area outside in front of the building. The apartments had their own patio."
