"Old Main Village is a nice building and the dining room is huge and you can rent it out for parties. It's a beautiful place. I would give it a ten. They've got a therapy pool in their building. The whole building used to be a college many years ago. It's an old building that's been renovated. It's a nice location in downtown Mankato and right across from the intergovernmental center. Vine is right across the street from it as well. The staff is very kind. It's a good experience to go in there. It just makes you feel good. I've been to a couple of wedding receptions there and my aunt's mom had her 90th birthday there. The kitchen staff is fabulous. It's so professional and just everything tastes good. The rooms are big. You get your privacy from neighbors. They're beautifully done and you have lots of space."

"I was at Ecumen Pathstone for rehab. It's large. They have their own physical therapists onsite and a nice fitness room for them to use. It's a beautiful property. They have a little cafe in the lobby, so residents can get something if they want, like a scone or a cup of coffee, a milkshake, an ice cream, or some little sandwiches. It's right there in the lobby area where there's a fireplace and a lot of nice places to sit, as well as tables for eating or gathering for a resident's birthday party. It's a very nice and well-kept facility. They have a chapel for services where they bring in a priest once a week, which I think is a very nice feature for a lot of people. The food was excellent. too. The staff that was in the dining facility were very helpful and kind. They always have a whole variety of alternative menus for those who prefer something else. Their price was comparable to the others."

"I liked Ecumen Sand Prairie. The people that I met there were friendly. It's just that at the time, they were having a COVID outbreak. They weren't accepting any new people. They had an activities room for the residents with a community puzzle table. They had a small library there, too. It seemed to be clean and well-kept. The lady that toured me was real friendly and was real good about answering all the questions that I had. She did a good job of showing me around the place. The dining area was clean. The lighting was good, and there was plenty of space there."

"My mother is on the second floor at Ecumen Prairie Hill, and she's getting her meals and her medication every day. We're, as a family, happy that she's in a place that can take care of her. The people there are decent folks. I visited with them several times and they've gotten some things straightened around, so everything's been very easy and comfortable to deal with. It's nice that somebody else can assess her and make the decisions rather than us being the bad guy, so it's worked out very well. She's got a private two-bedroom, a nice suite, with a kitchen and a balcony. She's happy with it and she's got one room set up for her sewing and quilt making and that kind of thing and then the other one's a bedroom, and then a nice living room. She's in there by herself, so that's a good thing. They have daily activities. They try to encourage her to go to the exercise classes, coloring and puzzles, and stuff like that, but she has not participated in any of the community activities. The staff is very friendly. The physical therapist that was coming in was a very nice gentleman. I've been there when the aides or assistants have come to give her medication and such. They've treated her with dignity and respect, and I'm comfortable with that. I think they're doing an outstanding job for a limited staff. Everybody that showed up helped her. She's a picky eater, so there is some food that she doesn't like, but they're willing to have something made specifically different at her request and I do believe she's exercised that once or twice. They do a good job. The facility is very nice. Someday if I get old, that'd be a nice place to go to. I don't understand their pricing. They go on some kind of a point system, but it seems to be fair and those that we checked around in when we were looking to get her landed someplace, they all seemed to have a base starting price and then go from there as to what the needs are of the resident."

"My sister stayed at Colony Court. It's an older building, but it was kept up well, but it was kind of confusing if you are in a memory unit as the hallways all looked the same. Her room was large, and it had a lot of room. They had some changeover, but the staff was good. They had a lot of activities. They had games. They had bingo. They had people come in and do a couple of church services a week. They brought in music people to play and entertain. There were two dining areas, so it was split up a little bit, but the food was good. They didn't have as many activities on the weekends. That's the only downfall."

"The facility was decent. It was fairly cleaned and most of the residents seemed happy there. A lot of the buildings were a bit old, but they were still in good condition. The staff was always friendly and seemed to care a lot about the residents. The one negative thing that I can think of is that the facility did not encourage its residents to excersise that much. The residents often sat in front of the TV and that was about it. They did call the bus every once in a while so that residents (supervised) could go to the store, etc. The facility always made sure that the residents ate enough and they were very strict about their medication schedules, etc. The facility was very employee friendly, for example, the facility allowed my mom to have me visit with the residents while she worked when I was eight. I got to socialize with the residents, which I enjoyed. I also think I made them happy too. "

"I went to the Traditions of Owatonna 1 yesterday. I loved it. I like the fact it's a home. It's a bigger place, but it felt like a home atmosphere. I like the arrangement of the rooms. The staff is friendly, and the residents are friendly. It's in a good community, a nice area. You feel welcome and at home there, it's a nice facility. We liked that place and this one we're considering. They did not offer food, I did ask the residents, and they said, the food is good. It's clean and the layout is comfy, comfortable, and easy. We looked at a couple of different apartments and it's just a nice layout. The apartment is excellent, clean, and well kept. The outdoors is very nice."

"We visited Birchwood Cottages - Owatonna for my mom. They were very friendly, knowledgeable, and also very available. We saw a lot of staff. They were modern, good-sized rooms that flowed well when you go from one room to another, like from the dining room to the activity area to their own apartment. It all seemed to flow very well. It was in a neighborhood, but it was on a busy street. It was very homelike. Their common room was set up like a living room in anybody's house, and that just seemed to be very comforting to those who are looking for a place that looks like home."

They have ala carte menu for meals, so you get to choose what you want and when you eat. They have movies and lot of activities. "
