"I was a resident at Asher Point for around two and a half years while recovering from some medical issues and not wanting to live alone. The entire time I was there, I was treated with dignity and respect by the administrators and all staff. They took time with me after a serious heart attack and made sure I had everything I needed during my time of recovery. They also were very helpful after my hip replacement and the following physical therapy which was done at the facility. They made sure meals were delivered to me if I did not feel like going to the dining room, and kept me up to date on information I may have missed due to being in therapy. Speaking of meals, they were usually very good and served to us on a beautifully decorated table. The residents were very friendly and encouraging by cheering me on throughout my therapies which I am sure helped me push through to finish everything successfully. My one bedroom apartment was lovely with weekly housekeeping and quick maintenance as needed. There were recreational activities everyday and especially during holidays. We also had our own hair salon and Bible study during the week and church on Sunday if we wanted. Our bus driver was excellent and we usually had something fun planned every few days. There is really just too much to share everything, and I am sure I forgot something important. I would just like to say that I made so many wonderful friends who will always be in my heart. There is always a hug waiting when I get a chance to drop by from Christy, our kind and amazing director, as well as many others. Please give Asher Point a visit if you are in the area and looking for a quality independent living facility. You will love it!"

"The rooms are clean and they are allowed to make it personal with pictures, flowers and wall hangings. When I visit, the staff is friendly and helpful. Our group came to sing songs before covid and they gathered the ones who wanted to sing in the activity room. We had a high day with the participants. I know they enjoy singing and Bible talks. The residents that came in, wanted company and loved seeing the young people come in to sing and talk with them. Because of covid restrictions, now I visit with a mask on and a partner. When entering facility, one can see that it is clean and welcoming. The family/ dining room looks like home because there is a long beautiful table with chairs for family. I don't believe I have ever seen it used for family functions though. As one walks down the hall, there is a large bird aviary with small adorable birds in it chirping. I like that. I am always greeting very friendly from the staff when i walk in. The activity planner was very friendly and helpful too. I do think that more care should be given to the menu because there are those who may be diabetic or other restrictions and are served meals that contain large amounts of carbohydrates and not enough leafy green vegetables. My friend who is now deceased, did not eat the bread and potatoes because she said she was diabetic. Overall, Magnolia Health and Rehab gets a high approval rating from me."

"A bright light in elder care! After so many bad experiences with care for my elderly mother in both large hospital and rehabilitation settings, we found New Day Senior Care in conjunction with Tallasee Community Hospital. One phone conversation convinced my husband that this was where we needed to be. New Day was the shining star! Ladasia (sp?), our social worker, the nursing staff, and everyone there treated my mother with love and patience, as if they were truly in a career that they loved, not a job they resented. They were thoughtful with her and with us, offering services with a smile and pleasant attitude that is hard to find in elder care, especially when dementia, depression, or both are involved. They made sure that when she came home we had all of the resources that we needed and any help we could dream of. We will never go anywhere else. I can not recommend them highly enough! My mother appreciated the well lit rooms, the day room where they could congregate and visit instead of being pushed to the wall and just left all day. The facility was clean, the staff so friendly, and the food was great. She loved getting 3 meals and 3 snacks each day. She also got a lot out of her group and individual therapy."

"My friend is currently in this facility and although she said some of the nurse practitioners and CNAs are ok most are lazy and some are downright rude. They run out of her meds, the food Is often cold when served and the very large wound on her leg is supposed to be cleaned and dressed daily but sometimes it goes 3 or 4 days without being taken care of. She has complained of chest pain and they do nothing to find out what has caused it. She has congestive heart failure and chest pain could mean something serious is going on. I would never send anyone to this facility, they need a good shake down from the director all the way down the line of employees. I'm old school, I believe if you take a job you should perform all you duties to the very best of your ability and not just go through the motions just enough to keep the job and collect a pay check."

"Auburn Assisted Living is wonderful and I love them. It's just that my friend needs full nursing care. She has been there for a year and a half, and I wish so badly that I could keep her there. It is the nicest place and it is top-notch. The staff that they have is great. I would recommend them. They have a hair salon, a movie theater, a game room, an exercise room, and a bus that takes them out to eat once a month or to the store or the doctor. They have a full-time person to take care of the activities on a daily basis. They have little wine and cheese parties on Fridays. The whole facility is very clean, very friendly, and warm."

"I will be moving here in two weeks, and I am getting a studio apartment. I like that I can take my cats in there. The facility is very nice, and I like it that every door I go out has a place where I can sit in a rocking chair and knit. The people there are very nice. Everybody has been so nice to me and so helpful. They answered any questions I have, and everybody's attitude is so good. I am very happy with this facility. When I walk in there, it's like I've been there before. Nobody walks by that doesn't talk; everybody talks to you. I was able to speak to a gentleman, and he was very nice. He is very happy with the facility too. I know I am going to be very happy here. I can overlook a lake, and all the trees have bird houses, and so I watch the birds and the man across from me, he said they have rabbits and deer, so I am going to like this place."

"My room is nice and clean with just enough places for my things. The staff is helpful and fun. They try to make it interesting and bring residents together for all types of programs. I love dominoes and it is available a number of times during the week. The front porch rockers gives you time to talk to assisted and independent residents on really nice days. This is my second place and has been very enjoyable to move here."

"I went to The Springs of Mill Lakes. It was alright except it was right on Highway 280 and it was just noisy as an interstate, so I said no. The homes were beautiful. I met one young woman who was the manager, and she was delightful. They had a swimming pool and a lovely club room. Of course, nobody was in there because nobody can go anywhere these days. We're all locked down."

"We have moved my father into The Harbor at Opelika. It has been very good. He seems very happy there. They seem to take good care of him. They have a lot of activities and he is involved and he is up and moving. It has been a positive experience so far. He has only been there for a little bit, and we have been very pleased with them. They are very professional, they spend a lot of time with them, and they keep them busy. We're very happy with it. Food is pretty good, too. They do a good job. They have a little bit of everything. There are only 32 people in there, so it's very well kept, it's not overcrowded, and it's very apportioned. It's not so big that you can't get around, but it is not small either. They have something all the time from devotionals, to walking, to music, to activities, to things that work for them to get them to improve their memory and get them active."

"My sister-in-law's mother was at John Knox at Arrowhead. They had their own doctor and staff. It's small, so you get a lot of attention. It was about the same as most of them, but it was very clean. She had probably one of the nicer rooms. It was a big room. The residents were very well taken care of. They were able to get out and get around. They all visited with each other. It was very nice and very well kept up. The staff I met was very nice, too. The dining area was very well lit and very quaint. They had three meals, and they had snacks in the middle of the day, too. My sister-in-law said they had all kinds of activities for them to do. The value for money would be a five because it would be twice as much trying to keep her at home."

"I toured The Belmont. They're a very nice community. The rooms are very nice. If it's long-term, you furnish the room. They have a private room and private baths. They're gated so that they can't leave the facility. They have a beautiful lake right there where they can take their patients and they can eat around the lake and stuff like this. It's a nice unit. The staff was very courteous. I got to meet all of their staff, their nurses and everything, ask them questions, and just kind of interact with them. They were nice. They were very informative."

"Wesley Gardens Retirement Community was excellent. The community was very clean. It's a very nice experience. The room was very, very clean, and nice. The dining area was extremely superior. I didn't try their food, but I believe it's good because the restaurant was setup very nice, and it's clean and beautiful. The person who took us around was very professional, very kind, and patient. The facility was very up-to-date."

"We went to The Veranda at Lake Martin. We like it because it's a small place. It's very homey. It makes you feel like you're at home. My mom gets one-on-one care and she likes it there. And that's the main thing. As long as my mom likes it there, I'm happy. She has a room with an adjoining bathroom with all the assisted living stuff like bench seats in the shower, and all the amenities she needs to help her. She can still walk. So she can get around in her room. And she just likes her private room. They have indoor activities like bingo, singing, card playing, and a pool table. They also have entertainment within the facility. I don't keep up with the outside activities because my mom doesn't care to go anywhere anyway."
