"My mom, who is physically healthy with dementia, has been a client here for over a year now. The caregivers here are true caregiving professionals: sincerely caring, patient, and knowledgeable. The variety of activities for their clients is also great, and it is obvious the staff works as a team. The case manager and director kept in regular contact with me to monitor changes in my mom's behavior and health. They also offered many additional caregiving resources, including providing me with information for a respite grant that I applied for and was approved! Medi-Cal will not pay for SCADS, but they offer sliding scale rates based on your ability to pay. The Peninsula is fortunate to have SCADS!"

"We have my mom enrolled in a day care program at Avenidas (Avenidas Rose Kleiner Senior Day Health Center), and it seems to be working well right now. They are very caring and wonderful there, and she likes it. There are activities, and they give them lunch. They do crafts and programs. They are a really nice alternative to be away from your home. I like the caring staff. They pick her up on a bus and take her. They bring her back at the end of the program. So, she is still able to stay in her home, and that's the goal at the present time. They have locale community college that brings animals when they visit. They have music and arts & crafts. They also have physical therapy -- both OT and PT. There are nurses on staff, so it is a really wonderful place for my mom right now. The food is great. She even contacts the cook to talk about recipes, menus, and things. We are really happy with Avenidas. I will give them 100% recommendation. "

"The staff are very friendly and careful when they deal with residents. They call each week to check up on my grandmother's health. Also, since residents are no longer able to go to the facility after the COVID-19 precautions were set, they deliver a tasty lunch to our door step (they leave it outside). I am really grateful for the Silicon Valley Adult Day Health Care Center for helping my grandmother."

"Milpitas has only two adult day heatlh care centers providing services to their senior community. I'm very familar with Prestige Audlt Day health Care Center as I have referred my clients to them. It is of my professional opinion that Prestige is the BEST of the two centers in the Milpitas area. The center is the smaller center of the two which is not a bad thing. Particpates are very welled care for and receive more individualized attention by a qulified staff. The center caters to more of the Chinese population and staff members speak Mandarin, Cantonese, Taiwanese, Vietnamese, Koren, and English. NOTE: if you are not from one of these Asia backgrounds you probably would not feel as comfortable. The center provdes an array of daily activities including; physical and occupational therapy, nursing services, karaoke in front af a BIG screen TV, and mah-jong. Transportation: A shuttle oicks up the seniors at their front door steps in the morning and drops them off in the afternoon. Hours of Operation: Monday thru Friday 8:30a.m. - 2:00p.m. "

"At mid-stage Alzheimer's my mom used this facility for 2-3 half-days each week. She LOVED the facility and the husband & wife team who managed the facility. They made fresh meals each day and served at round tables, family style. The main sitting room had a fireplace feature surrounded by lounge chairs. at the opposite end was a large screen HD TV at the opposite end, complete with old-time movies. The gents enjoyed indoor bowling and a separate card room, ladies enjoyed the arts & crafts room and an in-house beauty salon and a soothing Jacuzzi step-in tub (at an added cost to contractors). The facility offered full day service M-F, and optional pick up/delivery (at added cost) for the convenience of the caregiver. An excellent facility for my mom; she said, "I love working here, and I made new friends that are like me, I don't have to pretend to be normal at Sarah Care." For we three daughters and her husband, it was a HUGE relief to have those days of rest from caregiving knowing she was happy, safe, and well cared for. Thank you. "

"They know exactly how to handle people with Alzheimer's. They provide excellent care for my mother. I couldn't be more pleased. We are using Alzheimer's Activity Center since April. It started out with two days a week, and then we increased to three days a week, and next month we might go to four. They're an enormous help. They're very supportive and very knowledgeable. "

They provide a wonderful Adult Day Health Care service to their seniors and the staff reflect the community they serve. MACSA is known as the leader in serving the Latino community. The center provides daily services which include social and recreational activities as well as daily exercise to help keep seniors healthy and fit. Also, they have case management services to all their participants. In addition, the center provides a well balnce lunch and snacks to all participants. It you like Mexican food then this is place to bring your love one. Participants that I have referred to the center say the food is "GREAT". "I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Bayview Hunter's Point Adult Day Health Care Center. It was a lot of fun being able to see so many seniors interacting with people their own age during the day. I remember seeing a lot of them excitedly playing Dominos which brought a smile to my face. They had a lot of different games for the seniors including chess, checkers, connect-4, and crossword puzzles. Many of them just sat at their tables and reminisced about their life with their friends. The staff was very friendly and incredibly patient in working with the seniors. The facilities were decent but could use a little work, though it is totally understandable that there is barely any funding for ADHCs. All in all I think the staff was doing an excellent job with the resources that were available to them. The environment was super friendly and made my insides turn with joy as I got to see firsthand the care that was being provided. "

"Geary Center is one of about ten adult day health centers in the San Francisco Bay Area run by On Lok, a non-profit group that's been around a long time--and they're all good. Geary Center is open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. Pros of Geary Center: It's a smaller facility that has an intimate feel. The staff is welcoming and warm and includes a physician, a nurse practitioner, PT. OT, speech therapy, a dentist, and optometry and psychiatry services. They know their community well. They provide free transportation to and from the facility. They bill Medicare for the participants and also take Medical, SSI, private insurance with co-payment, and private pay based on monthly income. They provide what they call a "small" breakfast and a full hot lunch each day. They provide free prescription drug "medi-sets." They have a full offering of activities. Cons: It's on a very busy street. They have to keep a close watch on the seniors. "

"Our needs are being taken care of Norcal and I love them. The nurse my mom have is the greatest. She loves the nurse, the physical therapist, the social worker and she likes the home aide. It's an excellent match and it was pretty fast. I didn't have to wait. It didn't take them more than a week to find the right person. Mom is comfortable with her caregivers and so is the rest of the family. They have responded and they responded quickly. They responded with good people and the good people are doing everything to keep my mom comfortable and make her happy. I wouldn't mind using their service over and over again. "

"The Hong Fook Adult Day Health Centers are located in the heart of Oakland's Chinatown areas serving the Asian senior communities. They provide services to frail elderly with disabilities to regain their ability to live independently and provide respite to the love ones providing care. The diverse staff is very caring and professional, reflecting the community they serve. Majority of the staff members speak Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean, and Vietnamese as well as English. The centers services include: nursing care, assistance with medications, personal care (e.g. assistance with toileting and grooming), health education, and liaison with personal physician. Also, both centers offer a nutritionally-balanced hot ethnic meal and a nutritious snack every day. In addition, one of the biggest attraction is that the programs offer two sessions per day. This is very unique because most adult care health centers only provide one session during the mornings. The center provides transportation services to the center and back home to all their participants but families are highly encouraged to provide their own transportation. "
