"Meadow Gardens of Menlo Park was our second choice and I loved it. The outside of it was very pretty. There were multiple outside areas that the patients had access to, and they were very nice. It felt very welcoming. It was a small facility compared to some of the others, but it had that homey feeling. It didn't feel like an institution. The staff was wonderful, knew everything about the place, answered all of my questions, dealt with all of the issues, had solutions for everything, described the programs, just knew everything, and was very well informed. The dining room was very nice. When I was there, people were just going to eat. They had a small dining area and a larger dining area which seemed flexible and nice. Some of the people were eating in different places and they all seemed pretty happy with it. The rooms were very small. The shared rooms were very small and there wasn't even room for anything but a bed and a nightstand. The shower was down the hall versus in the room, but it was very nice. It was a bit dated, but to me, the most important thing was the program. The particular person that I was looking to place needs stimulation. The fact that the programs were good, I kind of overlooked some of the other stuff. I got a real positive vibe from them. I think people were happy, and they were busy. The whole facility was open within the gate and secured facility and it had open grounds. The facility is open to the clients so that they can go in and out."
