Altus Hospice had been very good. They've really taken care of us. The only thing where we got wires crossed is that my husband and I have similar phone numbers and he is the primary contact, but a lot of times I get the call, and I am not the one who is at home with her. I work outside the home, so they are calling me to ask questions about medication and this and that, and I don't have the answer. They wanted to deliver some equipment, but they can't get me on the phone because I am in a meeting or something, so we requested that they make a note of that in the file several times, and they finally got it right after three months. Everything else that they have done has been just right. They've helped us so much with figuring out the proper medications to reduce her anxiety to help her be able to sleep at night and helped us with additional equipment. They have just been wonderful in every way. Every day the CNA comes by and bathes her, changes her, and just kind of checks her general health, and then we have a nurse that comes once a week. They are very good, and I am more than happy to provide this feedback because it was a very difficult process to figure out how to get started and what we do, and we were expecting that she would need to go into assisted living. By the time she was done in the hospital, they had told us hospice. So it was a big shock for us to look for a totally different kind of care provider. They have really been there for us. If we did forget to order medication like in the beginning when we just didn't know what we were doing, they would send it to us that same day. And when we ordered different types of equipment or if we needed extra diapers, it was right there the very next day or even on the same day. They are very attentive and very caring. The nurse that visits us every week not only checks on my mother-in-law, but he sits and talks with my husband, and when I have been there for those visits, he is very informative and very patient about the questions that we might have, and he gives us all kinds of tips for helping us with whatever new behavior she is exhibiting and how to deal with it.
