KYAH allowed us to keep Mom in the house she and our father purchased when they were newlyweds. That allowed Mom to stay in a place she knew and felt comfortable. When choosing Home Care: 1) select a firm (we already knew KYAH’s owner), 2) select a caregiver (we let KYAH recommend a caregiver they had used in the past) and 3) arrange a meeting between the caregiver, the family members who will be involved in the client’s daily care and the client (in this case, our mother). All those people have to agree that the family will be a good match for the service to be provided. Remember, you are hiring someone who will have full, unsupervised, access to your home and be responsible for your loved one’s care. Take your time and give the caregiver increasing levels of responsibility. KYAH, thank you for stepping in and enabling our mother to live life on her terms. LoriA
