My 93 year old mother-in-law who has dementia, is very frail, and cannot take care of her personal needs any longer is enrolled in L.I.F.E. Butler County (PA) and these wonderful caregivers are helping her remain at home rather than being placed in a nursing home. An aide comes every morning to help her bath, dress and gets her breakfast, then a van comes and takes her to their day care center, where she has lunch and a snack before being taken home. They have helped her obtain a wheelchair, grab bars, a hospital bed and hygiene products. This program is free for qualifying candidates (income based) and is a God-send to family members who struggled to take care of Mom but did not want to put her in a nursing home.
