We had hospice care with Transitions Care. Most of the nurses were good and knowledgeable. I was not impressed with the P.A. I had to tell her what to do, which was kind of sad. They ran out of meds for him, and they had somebody come to my house at 11:30 at night with them. To me, that shouldn't have happened. They use these meds for everybody and it's not like it's a new and improved drug. When the social worker was here, she was extremely unprofessional. She sat here and pulled hair off the dog and threw it on the floor. I'm looking at her like, "My husband is laying here in a hospital bed in the middle of the living room dying and you want me to worry about brushing a dog?" I said, "Please don't throw it down on the floor. I have to clean that up." And then she called a chaplain. My priest had been to my house twice already and I didn't need this chaplain. I told her so, but they came, and the chaplain sat down next on one side of the bed, and I was on the other side trying to say my goodbyes to my husband. They're talking back and forth about what a nice subdivision this is, wondering how much the houses go for. That it's really nice and it's a good retirement community. I finally looked at her and I said, "You know, let me tell you something. For one thing, I really don't think you even need to be here. I have my own priest, and all I did was pick up the phone and he'll be here in ten minutes. For another thing, I am not going to listen to you two talk real estate. Go outside if you want to do that." I said, "Personally, I don't even know what the social worker is doing here. All you're doing is making a mess in my living room. So, I would like you both to leave." That's pretty bad that I had to do that, but I have never dealt with anybody like that. That was awful. My husband died at 10:30 and they didn't come and take care of him until 2:30. So, we had him sitting here in the living room, and then we had to wait for the funeral home to come. It was just a horrible experience. To me, that shouldn't have happened that way. And they blamed everything on COVID and being short staffed.
