Nancy was a lifesaver when my mother had a medical crisis. She took a huge burden off me and coordinated with the hospital, nursing home, primary care doctor, social workers and in home caregivers for me. She advocated for my mother at the nursing home-gave me interview questions for the caregivers, knew the ins and outs of insurance-both private and medicare, sent me links for at home medical equipment she recommended-really took over when I was overwhelmed and under knowledgeable. I am so grateful to have had such a resource.

My father, who lives alone, broke his hip this summer. I became his caregiver when he was discharged from the hospital and was overwhelmed. A friend mentioned GCC and I spoke to Amy. She helped me understand my father's prognosis, likely next steps and create a cost effective plan for bringing help into my father's home. I don't know what I would have done without Amy's help.

I was concerned whether Mom could stay in her home. We had just had another trip to the emergency room. I thought she needed to move into an assisted living facility. But could we afford it? The Geriatric Care Consultants assigned Nancy to work with me. She walked me through the alternatives and provided estimates of the costs. We found that bringing caregivers into Mom's house would be more cost effective and preserve some of Mom's independence. GCC monitors the caregivers and takes steps to replace those that are not responsive to Mom and her needs. I have a real advocate for me and Mom.
