Carondelet Hospice and Palliative Care

They took care of my mom. My mom had dementia. It was a long road. When she became bed ridden I was told by a friend that she might be able have hospice. I called 3 different hospices. They all sounded like they provided the same care pretty much. Carondelet I felt would offer a more complete spirituaIity for my mother. She isn't catholic. The chaplain that came was delightful and provided the exact kind of spiritual support my mom needed. Plus he sang too! I planned on having mom at home the whole time. Carondelet said If I needed a rest they can have my mom go into a nursing home for a few days so I can get a rest and refreshed. They had a wonderful bath aide come and bathe mom 2 times a week. I had a volunteer come for a short time so I could get out and get groceries so mom wouldn't be alone. At the end the nurse and social worker kept in good contact with me to make sure I understood everything that was going on. The social worker helped me make sure I had all of my ducks in a row for final arrangements. The Nurse was Stellar. She prepared me for everything and told me what she would anticipate happening. I felt I was as prepared as I could be for the whole thing. I would absolutly recommend Carondelet. They made my life a whole lot less complicated and Mom's final days really comfortable.
