Please don't take your loved one there. My mom was dropped off for respite care on June 19th 2024 perfectly fine. She was returned to our house on June 24th with the worst yeast infection anyone has ever seen all over her entire back. It didn't even look like a yeast infection anymore. It was misdiagnosed three times before she incidentally got a yeast infection medication internally due to having had a antibiotic in August. After two and a half months the rash is finally gone. We treated it all that time with no success with topical creams. I've been taking care of her for 10 years and she has never had a problem with any rash on her back. I don't know how they managed to give her such a yeast infection in 5 days. Did they ever change her clothing? Did they give her a tremendous amount of sugar? Did they ever reposition her?

Rooms are very spacious and clean. The food is pretty good. The entire staff are very friendly and welcoming to new residents as well as long term residents. I had to go to MRCC after I broke my hip and needed rehabilitation after leaving the hospital.

I am so very grateful to have my Mother living here. The Aides are attentive and caring. Mom's family can come and go anytime we want, so we see the facility and Mom in different modes depending on the time of day. The staff assists us any way they can; whether it is bringing Mom's tray to an area where we can eat with her or taking her to the bathroom. The facility is clean and welcoming. There is a wide variety of activities. Mom has Alzheimers so she doesn't always want to participate in activities, but she still has contact with other residents. Activities include everything from church services to happy hour to crafts. The Dining Room is similar to home dining; tablecloths, "real" napkins, etc. Mom's doctor and the nurses always visit with the family and voice any concerns and ask if we have any concerns. I know every family has different needs, but Benedictine Living Center of Spooner has certainly met my Mother's needs and her family's needs.
