Wife has been in for about 6 months now . Her Dementia had gotten very bad . She was in sever pain from several problems. Thanks to the resident doctor ,he started a treatment for the dementia shortly after she got there and she has improved almost back to normal . She doesn't complain about pain anymore. Even though she takes less pain medication. The people there are great. Went in a couple of times when there was visitation. Was very happy with what I saw. If she gets a scratch I get a call. I've been in some of the local big facilities here in San Antonio and I'm much happier with this facility .Has the perfect balance, Small town atmosphere and top notch people . I left activities blank because wife is unable to get out of bed on her own. Food she seems to like ,She's lost some needed weight and looking very healthy . Loves the person that comes around with the snack tray during the day. Nice touch for those like my wife that can't get out of bed.

Retama Manor was close to where I live, so I visited it. The person I talked to was very businesslike and didn't seem to care too much about anything. They had a little gymnasium-type room for exercises, and I saw people watching TV. The food was very starchy. I didn't like the overall feeling because it was not assisted living.

My father in law is in Retama Manor Nursing Center. They have a very nice area at the back like a deck type patio with a huge oak tree. Their food seems to be okay. He appears to be well taken care of and my father has already adjust himself there.. The staff and the residents are great, but I have one experience when we move him there. My father-in-law's right ankle is swollen and I call them for four straight days but they never call back. On the fifth day I call again and the lady I am contacting tells that she is about to call me back. The rooms are very clean but I think it's too crowded.
