What ongoing training does the staff receive in dementia care?
A much smaller personalized team and community. With the oversight of our Memory care Director, you will find dedicated teams based on care.
Describe the overall population of assisted living residents at Orchard Park of Permian Basin. What is their average age? What are their favorite things to do?
A vibrant and engaging group of seniors between the ages of 80 and 85 . They love to learn new things and keep up to date regarding current events. We provide our residents the possibility of creating their own clubs based on their past hobbies/ interests.
What programs or activities does Orchard Park of Permian Basin offer to enrich residents' well-being?
A revolutionary exercise class called "Revolution in Motion", focused on strengthening core muscles and balance, Art & Music appreciation classes, Current Events and of course Bingo. We offer various spiritual services in which they actively participate and share as a community. We have live entertainment at our monthly family nights.

We are right down the road from Cinergy, restaurants, retail stores as well as the Odessa Country Club. We make it easier for them with our complimentary bus services Monday through Friday.

Our bus services are complimentary within a 15 mile radius to our community. Personal assistance to these appointments are available, with a charge, ahead of time, giving our residents and families time to spend together and not worry about the details.

Robert Soules, a renowned chef of 18 years in the industry that not only cooks but caters to our residents needs. We offer monthly family brunches and celebration of all holidays. Our menu of the day is defined as "Comfort Food" and speaks to the likes of our residents; we offer as well options which cater to all tastes. From Sandwiches, Salads and Grilled items. Our Wellness team and Chef work together to assist with special diets.

Our team is continuously trained on different drills; fire, earthquake, triage. The team at Orchard Park of the Permian Basin is proud to announce that we our First Aid & CPR certified. In addition, we have a Generator on site and our elevator is equipped with technology that will lower the car to ground level and open its doors during a power outage. All apartments are equipped with Emergency call system, smoke detectors and sprinklers. Additional call services are available at a modest one time fee upon request.

We like saying that we become partners in care with our families. Communication nowadays is a matter of personal preference, it allows us to offer text messages, emails, calls or a one on one meeting with our families and residents. Our community has an " Open door policy" ; families are welcomed at any time to discuss the needs of their loved ones.

Based on residents needs and occupancy, a team of supervisors and care partners are available at all times lead by our Wellness Director. Our residents that reside in memory care enjoy a more personalized attention.

We accept small cats and dogs, no more than 20 lbs. With beautiful landscaped gardens, these loved companions enjoy the company of their owners and can be seen visiting other residents or enjoying morning walks. Service pets are welcomed

Our team receives training throughout the year with topics ranging from care to emotional connection. Our memory care team is dedicated in understanding their conditions and bring normalcy to their lives, creating pleasant moments with reminiscing and engaging activities.

Staffing our community is based on the wants and needs of our residents at any given time.

Our goal has always been to protect those that need us most. Safety features such as double egress doors and wander tags allow our residents to move freely without being intrusive. One of our main features is the training our memory care team receives on how to manage challenging moments and help our residents express their wants, needs that have created those moments.

A personalized approach to each resident with engaging activities based on their past professions and hobbies. Validating their emotions and moments is key in understanding an individual which will allow them to have pleasant days.

Assessments are made as needed based on changes in condition. We will revisit twice a year and speak with their primary physician about our residents and their annual re-assessments

A sense of home is key, we actively seek and allow our residents to participate during meal times; setting the table, washing some dishes. A small walk or exercise class prior to a meal will assist in enhancing the need. We provide contrasting color plates to help those with visual impairments and recognition of depth.

Located in a residential neighborhood and business district our memory care has its own garden for our residents to enjoy outdoor activities with our team and families. We are located in a prime location for new development and growth with in Odessa.

We are not only affiliated with other hospitals in the area but a total of three Midland Memorial, Odessa Regional and Medical Center. As well as the primary rehab in the west Texas area Health South Encompass.
